Konoha Hospital.

Tian Yuan opened his eyes. He now understood the situation: his earlier unconsciousness had been caused by a fragment upl

The fragment contained everything Tian Yuan had experienced in Konoha, plus instructions on how to use his cheat code.

Tian Yuan was now eight years old and still studying at the Konoha Ninja Academy. When he was four, his parents had died on a mission, so he'd lived alone ever since—making it easier for him to fit into the Hokage world.

In this world, Tian Yuan's thick-skinned personality helped him get along well with classmates—just as it had on Earth—perhaps why the Player System had chosen him.

This Hokage-world Tian Yuan seemed to mirror his Earth self. His ninja talent was mediocre: mid-tier in the Academy, outclassed by geniuses like the black-haired girl Anko, whom he'd met in class.

With his recovered memories, Tian Yuan recognized that girl as Mitarashi Anko, who would later become Orochimaru's disciple.

Restoring these memories helped Tian Yuan integrate into the Hokage world. He even recalled where he lived, where to eat, and how to perform Chakra exercises, basic ninjutsu like the Transformation Technique and Substitution Technique, and how to throw kunai—as if he'd trained them himself. Still, he needed practice.

Beyond memories, Tian Yuan learned how to use the Player System—his very strange cheat. He functioned like a media player, able to pick up "signal points" scattered throughout the world. Each point could receive anime or movie fragments, from which he could extract abilities.

Signal locations had to be close to fixed spots, and they refreshed unpredictably.

Fragments came in six qualities: Standard, HD, Full HD, Blu-ray, and IMAX. Higher quality meant a greater chance of extracting powerful abilities—up to eighty percent from Blu-ray or IMAX, whereas Standard fragments made good extractions almost impossible.

The Player System also issued routine tasks that rewarded video fragments or Honor Points. Honor Points could buy higher-quality fragments, though earning points was difficult.

Tian Yuan knew relying on signal reception was risky, but he had no choice. His ninja aptitude was too low to advance by normal training. He could easily be wiped out by enemy villages.

He also knew it was Konoha Year 45, so the Third Great Ninja War would soon begin. If he survived that and the Nine-Tails attack afterward, he might still end up as cannon fodder. Jonin deaths were common in a Great Ninja War—Chunin and Genin were in even greater peril.

"Gaining Jonin-level power in a few years… what pressure," Tian Yuan muttered. Thankfully he had his cheat. Without any Uchiha blood, rising to Jonin so fast would be impossible.

"Wait—System, how did I come to the Hokage world?" Tian Yuan asked. The memory fragments hadn't explained that.

"You are the one chosen by fate," the system stuttered, then replied.

"Chosen by fate, my ass," Tian Yuan flipped it off. "Just tell me."

A fragment played: handsome Tian Yuan was gaming when a fireball descended and incinerated his home—and him. That fireball was the Player System, inexplicably fused with his soul, tearing open space and dropping him into the Hokage world.

"Well, can't say my luck's bad," Tian Yuan sighed. "Fate sure sucks, though."

"But since it's fused with my soul, I am the Player," he mused. "I am the player—feels awesome, like a crazy start."

He felt better just saying it.

Voices came at the door.

"Teacher, what happened to Tian Yuan?" called a girl's voice.

"The medical ninja says he's fine," the ninja teacher answered.

"Then let's go see," she said.

"Let's go together," the teacher added, entering the room.

Tian Yuan greeted them. "Hi, Teacher Takagi, Anko, and Iruka."

"You damn Tian Yuan—I thought you were hurt," Mitarashi Anko snarled as she stepped forward. "Our academy would lose only one of its 'two bullies'—I'd be so sad."

"Two bullies?" Tian Yuan grimaced. "Anko, you're the bully here—I'm a good guy."

"A good guy? Iruka, do you believe him?" Anko asked.

"Tian Yuan is a good person," Umino Iruka said honestly.

"Thanks for nothing," Anko rolled her eyes.

"Teacher Takagi, I'm fine. Can I be discharged?" Tian Yuan stood.

"Are you sure? Ninja Academy can wait," Teacher Takagi said. Though exasperated by Tian Yuan disrupting class, he knew the boy took his ninja studies seriously.

"I'm fine." Tian Yuan jumped down. "See? I could even kill a cow right now."

"Alright. I'll handle the paperwork." Teacher Takagi nodded.
