Land of Fire, Konoha, inside the Ninja Academy.

"Tian Yuan, wake up. Tian Yuan, wake up." A clamorous voice rang out, prompting Tian Yuan to frown.

What's going on? I was sleeping so well.

"Tian Yuan, Tian Yuan." The voice grew louder.

Annoyance flared inside Tian Yuan—he refused to admit he was an early bird.

"Who told me to get up? If you keep at it, I won't hold back." With a bang on the desk, Tian Yuan stood, and all the other students in the Ninja Academy froze.

When did Tian Yuan get so bold? Normally he was lively, but now the students could only stare in stunned silence.

"So what do you mean by 'not holding back'?" To Tian Yuan's side stepped a ninja wearing a Konoha headband, veins bulging on his forehead, yet a grin spread across his face.

"Who are you?" Tian Yuan blinked—who was this guy?

"Ah, you Tian Yuan—you don't even recognize your teacher? Out you go, stand in the hallway as punishment." The ninja, about thirty years old, bellowed.

"Um…" Tian Yuan realized something was off. He hadn't been sleeping—he'd been gaming—and everything around him felt unfamiliar.

"I've transmigrated." Tian Yuan paused.

"Tian Yuan, are you trying to rebel?" The teacher's veins throbbed as he glared at the motionless boy.

"Fine, fine, I'll go." Tian Yuan scrambled up. He needed to gather his thoughts. How had he ended up here, and where was here, anyway?

"That headband looks familiar." Tian Yuan's eyes darted. If he wasn't mistaken, this was the Konoha headband from a manga he once read.

"Tian Yuan, you're in trouble again." A black-haired girl nearby chuckled.

"Oh." Tian Yuan nodded mechanically. The girl was cute, but he didn't know her. His priority was getting a grip on his situation.

Tian Yuan left the classroom, and the students began to whisper—some snickering, others concerned.

"Get back to your lessons. If any of you want to join Tian Yuan in the hallway, just let me know—I'll allow it." The ninja teacher swept the class with his gaze.

Silence returned.

"Good," the teacher nodded, then resumed lecturing on the ninjutsu they had been covering.

In the corridor, Tian Yuan collected his thoughts.

"Judging by what I saw, I really did transmigrate. This isn't Earth but an old manga world." He whispered. "And I'm a kid again—look at my hands."

He stared at his small hands—sure enough, he'd shrunk.

"My name's Tian Yuan, close enough to Ye Tian Yuan on Earth," he said. Here, going by Tian Yuan felt only slightly strange.

"But seriously, I just transmigrated for no reason?" Tian Yuan complained.

He felt both lost and strangely familiar with this ninja world. Strength mattered most here. He must be in the Ninja Academy, so he had some foundation—but as a child, he knew nothing of Chakra cultivation, Transformation Technique, Substitution Technique, or basic ninjutsu. Did he have to start from scratch?

"The rahead is long," Tian Yuan muttered.

His nerves were thick—he accepted transmigration in an instant.

"But I have no memories. Give me a golden finger!" Tian Yuan looked up at the ceiling in despair. Without a golden finger, how could he compete with other ninjas? He wasn't a newborn but already in school—he was miles behind.

"And my parents, also called Tian Yuan—what about them?" he wondered.

"Now I can only hope there's no Nine-Tails attack or Pain's Divine Retribution on Konoha. I don't want to die right after arriving." He thought of the dangers facing this world; Konoha was relatively safe, especially for students, but major events still struck hard.

"And if there's a ninja war, students might become cannon fodder." He shivered at the thought.

"What matters most now is to grow stronger." Tian Yuan sighed—strength ruled here.

Beep… Player System activated. Retrieving original playback fragments… retrieval complete. Inputting fragments.

A mechanical voice startled him. Player System? Playback fragments? What was this?

"Fuck, where's my golden finger?" A stabbing pain seared through his skull, and Tian Yuan screamed.

"Damn it!" He rolled white-eyed and collapsed into unconsciousness.

Back in the classroom, the ninja teacher, mid-lecture, froze at Tian Yuan's curse, fury rising. He flung open the door to find Tian Yuan pale and lifeless.

Scooping him up, the teacher hurried out of the Ninja Academy, calling over his shoulder to the students, "Tian Yuan's collapsed. I'm taking him to Konoha Hospital. Class dismissed for today."

The students exchanged worried glances. Why had Tian Yuan fainted?

"Worthless Tian Yuan—punishment makes him pass out," murmured a dazed boy.

"What do you mean, Gengetsu Hayate?" the black-haired girl snapped. "If you think you're so great, let's compete."

"No, have Tian Yuan compete with me," Gengetsu Hayate retorted.

"I'm going to Konoha Hospital to see him." The girl dismissed Gengetsu Hayate and left.

"Wait for me, Anko—I'm coming too." A scar-faced boy chased after her.
