Lin Chen's words struck Liu Xiaojing's heart like a series of heavy blows.

She froze, staring blankly at him.

"What does that mean? I don't understand what Officer Lin is saying."

"I understand — he means the Liu Xiaojing seen on campus that day wasn't the Liu Xiaojing here on stage?"

"That Liu Xiaojing isn't this one? Does that mean there's a ghost? Was Liu Xiaojing on campus a ghost?"

"That's crazy! Even if ghosts existed, would they appear in broad daylight?"

The students below argued loudly.

Zhang Tian'ai stepped forward, eyes brightening. "Mr. Lin, do you mean there's another girl who looks exactly like Liu Xiaojing, helping her commit the crime?"

Liu Xiaojing trembled slightly, barely noticeable except to Lin Chen.

"Exactly, that's right," Lin Chen nodded.

Before Zhang Tian'ai could speak further, Fang Xinzhou interrupted, "Mr. Lin, you must be joking. Another girl identical to Liu Xiaojing helping her? They'd have to be twins."

"Looks like you're not so dumb," Lin Chen said, staring at Fang Xinzhou.

"Hmph," Fang Xinzhou snorted, "I think you're the dumb one. You think we only interrogated Liu Xiaojing? We've investigated her family thoroughly."

"She grew up in a single-parent family; her mother died in a car accident when Liu Xiaojing was eleven. She lives with her grandmother. Her mother only had her—she has no twin!"

"Fang Xinzhou is right," Zhang Tian'ai said regretfully, looking at Lin Chen.

She thought Lin Chen had evidence, but it turned out he was only speculating about a twin to explain Liu Xiaojing's alibi.

"Haha, I thought Lin Chen was capable, but he claims Liu Xiaojing has a twin."

"I'm Liu Xiaojing's classmate; she told me about her family. She has no twin."

"Looks like we waited in vain today. He won't find the killer."

"Can't find the killer, so just blame Liu Xiaojing. Ridiculous."

The students' voices grew louder. Deputy Director Sun's face turned serious, while Fang Xinzhou smirked.

Lin Chen remained calm and said, "Liu Xiaojing, you have a twin, don't you?"

"No, my mother only had me. I have no twin," Liu Xiaojing said proudly, voice clear and loud.

"You're lying."

Lin Chen smiled faintly, "When I first mentioned a twin, I saw worry and panic on your face. Your body trembled slightly. But when you heard the police describe your family, and the students mocked me saying you have no twin, you regained confidence."

"So, when I asked again, you stood taller and spoke firmly."

"No, I didn't regain confidence. I never had a twin. Mr. Lin, if you don't believe me, check my household registration."

"We already did. How many times must we say it?" Fang Xinzhou became impatient.

Lin Chen frowned and looked at Deputy Director Sun. "Old Sun, your subordinate is troublesome."

Deputy Director Sun glared at Fang Xinzhou and said sternly, "Xiao Fang, shut up and move to the back."

Fang Xinzhou was startled but reluctantly obeyed.

Lin Chen turned to Liu Xiaojing, "I know you won't admit it, but soon I will provide proof you cannot deny."

He walked to the projector, inserted the USB drive, and soon a video was projected on the large white screen.

The video showed Liu Xiaojing carrying a tray, sitting at a cafeteria table, and putting a spoonful of soup in her mouth.

Lin Chen paused the video and asked, "This is noon on the day of the crime, recorded by the cafeteria camera. You recognize this person, right?"

Liu Xiaojing nodded slightly, "Of course, that's me."

"Good."

Lin Chen pointed to the paused image, "Everyone, look closely."

"It's just eating. What's strange about picking up a spoon and drinking soup?" Zhang Tian'ai asked.

Students also asked, seeing nothing unusual.

After half a minute, Lin Chen pointed at Liu Xiaojing's right thumb, "Notice her right thumbnail. On the day of the crime, it was freshly cut, about one millimeter long."

He clicked the mouse and switched to another video.

This one was recorded outside Room 311, showing police interrogating a fearful, nervous Liu Xiaojing wiping tears.

Lin Chen paused and said, "This is the day after the crime. Look at her right thumbnail length."

"Adult nails grow 1 to 1.4 millimeters per week. On the crime day, her thumbnail was about one millimeter. The next day, it had grown to about one centimeter."

Lin Chen stared coldly, "Liu Xiaojing, how did your thumbnail grow 8 to 9 millimeters overnight?"
