"They're here!" a student exclaimed.

Many turned their gaze toward Lin Chen's direction.

"Wow, Lin Chen's family background must be impressive, with the deputy director walking behind him."

"Tianhai City's Police Station deputy director is a bureau-level official, right?"

"Whatever, big deal. Lin Chen walking ahead of the deputy director? He even calls him 'Old Sun.' Didn't you see the video on the forum?"

Amidst the students' chatter, Lin Chen and Deputy Director Sun reached the platform.

The scene was noisy with students talking loudly.

"Officers, have you caught the killer?" the parents of victim Li asked tremulously.

They had been waiting all this time for news.

The other parents, Zhou's parents, had the father Zhou Dayong say to Lin Chen: "Officer Lin, we've waited since you said you'd solve the case today. Don't fool us."

Zhou Dayong's tone was rude.

Lin Chen scanned the parents, then said, "Alright, quiet down."

At once, the noisy crowd fell silent, no more whispers.

"I've found the killer. The case will be solved soon," Lin Chen said.

After a brief pause of about ten seconds, the crowd erupted again.

The parents stared eagerly at Lin Chen, waiting for more details.

"Who is the killer?"

"Is it one person or multiple?"

"Tell us quickly, who is it?"

Voices rose from the crowd.

Lin Chen calmly said, "The killer is one person—she is the roommate and classmate of the two female victims, Liu Xiaojing."

"Whoa..."

The crowd gasped.

Because no suspicious persons entered Room 311 the night of the crime, Liu Xiaojing had been a prime suspect.

However, after investigation showed she had no motive or opportunity and had an alibi, her suspicion was cleared.

Detective Zhang Tian'ai crossed her arms and watched Lin Chen, curious how he would implicate a cleared suspect.

"You must be mistaken—Liu Xiaojing?" Zhou Dayong recovered and said angrily, "The police said she had no opportunity. How could a girl dare dismember my daughter's body?"

"Yeah, Liu Xiaojing has no motive or opportunity. Officer Lin, are you sure?" some students echoed.

One student agreed, then two more joined.

Many students spoke up, saying Liu Xiaojing wasn't the killer.

Fang Xinzhou sneered, thinking Lin Chen was blindly arrogant and would soon expose himself with flawed evidence.

In front of hundreds of students, Deputy Director Sun, and his idealized Zhang Tian'ai, Fang Xinzhou wanted to see Lin Chen fail.

"I'm clear-headed and certain the killer is Liu Xiaojing," Lin Chen said, then looked toward a direction and said, "Here comes Liu Xiaojing."

Everyone turned to see two male officers escorting Liu Xiaojing onto the platform.

Liu Xiaojing became emotional immediately: "Mr. Lin, I didn't kill anyone! Why do you accuse me? They were my roommates and classmates—why would I kill them?"

"Calm down," Lin Chen said. "I wouldn't call you the killer without solid evidence."

"Evidence? Fine, show me the evidence!" Liu Xiaojing shouted.

Lin Chen nodded slightly and said, "Alright, let me first explain the whole case."

"At about 8 p.m. on February 18, the two female victims in Room 311 were attacked. Their throats were cut, drained of blood, and then dismembered. Forensic examination confirms their time of death around 8 p.m."

"The police found no suspicious persons near Room 311 that night. The only suspicious person to enter the room was you. But you have an alibi—you were attending a classmate's birthday."

"Exactly. When they were killed, I was at the restaurant. If you know that, why do you accuse me?" Liu Xiaojing asked.

Lin Chen smiled faintly and fixed his gaze on her. "Liu Xiaojing, is the Liu Xiaojing who appeared on campus on February 18 really you?"

Liu Xiaojing's eyes suddenly widened in fear but she quickly concealed it.

"Mr. Lin, what do you mean? I don't understand," she asked confusedly.

The teachers and students below also whispered, puzzled by Lin Chen's question.

"The Liu Xiaojing who appeared on campus on the 18th?" Zhang Tian'ai frowned, pondering Lin Chen's words.

Under the crowd's confused eyes, Lin Chen said, "Maybe others don't understand, but Liu Xiaojing, you certainly do."

"You have an alibi because the Liu Xiaojing who attended classes, ate at the cafeteria, and went to the birthday party that night was not you!"
