Grand Line, Calm Belt Daughter Country.
In a forest on the eastern side of Daughter Country, a boy around thirteen or fourteen years old sat awkwardly inside a nest belonging to some unknown ferocious bird, staring helplessly at everything in front of him.
This was the nest of a type of vicious bird yet to be identified by name. The boy's name was Ye Chen.
Ye Chen felt utterly miserable. Other people who got Time Travel into another world always seemed to end up in the bodies of noble heirs, wealthy merchants, or at the very least, normal families.
But him? The moment he crossed over, before he could even figure out what was going on, he got snatched up by some stinking bird and dumped here.
Looking at the baby birds in front of him, each screeching aggressively and radiating bloodlust, Ye Chen felt a major headache coming on.
Damn it, the way these baby birds were staring at him made it painfully obvious—they wanted to eat him. They clearly saw him as food.
Though Ye Chen was dying to kill these chicks to vent his anger, each one was over two meters tall. How was he supposed to fight them?
Besides, he didn't even have a weapon right now.
With his scrawny build, there was no way he could handle them physically.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
The birds screeched in a grating, nails-on-glass type of sound—harsh and unbearably loud.
Even though Ye Chen couldn't speak bird language, judging by their expressions, he could basically guess what they were trying to say.
Something along the lines of: I want to eat! I want to eat!
"Damn it, they really think they can eat me?!" Ye Chen was furious.
"System, don't I get one chance for a random exchange?" Ye Chen asked silently in his mind.
"Yes."
A flat, indifferent voice responded in Ye Chen's consciousness.
As a Time Traveler, Ye Chen naturally had his own system. But this system was rather unique—it was called the Exchange System.
The Exchange System had two core functions:
Equal Exchange — This allowed the user to trade an item of a certain value for another item of equivalent value. These items could come from across the multiverse.
In other words, if you offered a fruit, the system might give you another fruit from another world or an item of equal worth—possibly money.
However, the key limitation was this: the system never gave anything from this world. All exchanged items came from other worlds.
Random Exchange — In this mode, the system would take an item and give you something of random value in return.
It was simple. Offer up a fruit, and you might get a gold coin… or just a rock. You might even get a spiritual fruit from the Immortal Realm. If you gave the system something valuable like a Devil Fruit, it might give you something even more powerful—or it might still give you a plain fruit.
In short, Random Exchange was a gamble—you might hit the jackpot, or you might get junk.
Equal Exchange, on the other hand, would always give you something of equal worth—nothing more, nothing less.
"System, can I choose this bird's nest in front of me for the exchange?" Ye Chen glared viciously at the baby birds and spoke to the system in his heart.
"Yes."
"Then let's do it."
Since the system gave the green light, Ye Chen didn't hesitate. Though he felt a bit regretful that the big bird who captured him wasn't present—if it were, he'd sacrifice the whole damn flock.
"Begin exchange."
As the system's voice rang out, a white light enveloped the nest of baby birds.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
The baby birds panicked the moment the white light appeared. They chirped frantically, flapped their wings wildly, and looked around in terror as the light engulfed them.
"Now you're scared? Should've thought of that earlier."
Ye Chen felt incredibly satisfied watching their fear.
Just as he was savoring the moment, the system's cold voice echoed in his mind:
"Exchange successful."
As soon as those words fell, the light vanished—and in its place appeared a massive creature.
Its serpentine body stretched several hundred meters through the sky. When its red wings unfurled, a powerful shockwave swept through the forest, stirring up violent gales.
"Osiris's Sky Dragon!" Ye Chen cried out in delight, instantly recognizing the creature.
That red body, those crimson wings, and the gaping mouth full of razor-sharp teeth—none other than the God Card from the Yu-Gi-Oh world: Sky Dragon Osiris's Sky Dragon!
"ROAR!"
Sky Dragon let out a thunderous cry, and gently nudged Ye Chen with its massive head, clearly affectionate.
Seeing Sky Dragon act so intimately, Ye Chen grinned and stroked its head with joy.
"Jackpot."
Ye Chen never imagined that a random nest of baby birds would be traded for Sky Dragon. It was no different from a pie falling straight from the sky.
The odds of that happening were even smaller than winning the lottery jackpot.
As one of the Three God Cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, Osiris's Sky Dragon was naturally immensely powerful—an entity capable of sweeping through an entire world. Even in the Pirate world, it would stand at the very top.
That nest of baby birds may have been fearsome beasts, but compared to Sky Dragon, they were like grains of sand next to pure gold.
Ye Chen had basically struck treasure.
