Vampires—this is what humans call these terrifying creatures. However, they refer to themselves as the "Bloodline."
Chen Shang had some knowledge about them, albeit from a mixture of truths and myths. He knew that unlike zombies, vampires don't just turn others by biting them. There's a very strict ritual known as the First Embrace. A vampire must drain more than half of the target's blood and allow them to ingest some of their own blood, channeling vampiric energy into the target to complete the transformation.
Yet, in Chen Shang's case, simply being bitten had initiated his transformation into a vampire. Though he was turning into the lowest rank of the Bloodline—a Thrall—this alone spoke volumes about the power of the vampire who bit him. That mysterious vampire woman possessed a bloodline so noble, so vast in its energy, that it defied Chen Shang's expectations.
At this point, there was no going back. Chen Shang could only accept the reality that he would now live as a vampire.
During the transformation, Chen Shang's body temperature gradually dropped, his face paled, fangs began to grow from his mouth, and his pupils turned a blood-red hue. His veins bulged, and his body trembled involuntarily.
"So, this is what it feels like to become part of the Bloodline."
Chen Shang manifested a mirror in his personal space, observing his transformation with an almost detached curiosity, as if it weren't his own body changing.
Pain exploded from every part of his body.
Chen Shang was intrigued by the sensation of the pain.
"This is the most intense pain I've ever felt in my life. It seems those records of how painful the transformation process is weren't exaggerations at all."
After the transformation was complete, Chen Shang swayed and fell backward. Fortunately, he conjured a bed behind him just in time and collapsed onto it.
"Heal."
As Chen Shang uttered the command, a soft white light enveloped him. This time, it wasn't as intense as when he first arrived in his personal space, merely a gentle sweep.
[3 Spirit Points deducted.]
The mechanical voice informed him of the cost.
Chen Shang looked at his hand and saw that the burn mark from earlier had disappeared, though his body remained in a weakened state.
"So, this weakness isn't an injury, but hunger caused by my transformation?"
Pondering this, Chen Shang opened the [Skill Enhancements] interface.
The panel had mentioned that his vampire status would lock in as a Bloodline Card, similar to how he had received the Nimble Hands and Feet card. It was just another binding.
Once the interface was open, another description appeared:
You can gain enhancement and skill cards from livestreams. These can be equipped here to grant you the effects described on the cards. You may equip up to 4 enhancement cards and 3 skill cards at a time. Different combinations of cards may yield unexpected effects—please explore these on your own. Some cards are not restricted by slots—please explore further.
When the introduction ended, Chen Shang saw his [Skill Enhancements] panel. The first row had four empty slots, the second row had three, and there was one independent slot occupied by a blood-red card.
[Vampire Thrall – Special Blood] (E+ Rank Bloodline Card): You are now part of the Bloodline, and your craving for blood is insatiable. Your blood, in particular, is exceptionally appetizing to other vampires. This unique blood grants you partial immunity to certain vampiric weaknesses.
Vampiric Physique: Your strength and agility have moderately increased, and your constitution has significantly increased.
Vampiric Weakness (70% Reduction): Sunlight will strip you of most of your abilities and constantly burn your body. Silver and holy power will cause you significant damage.
Chen Shang then placed the Nimble Hands and Feet card into one of the empty slots.
His personal stats now appeared as follows:
Chen Shang: Thrilling Livestream Streamer
[Strength]: E+
[Agility]: D-
[Constitution]: D
[Spirit]: F+
[Mystery]: F-
[Luck]: C-
[Charm]: B
Overall Rating: E+ (Congratulations, you're slightly stronger than a weakling with a power level of 5.)
"Is this rating meant to mock me?" Chen Shang quipped, while also feeling the newfound strength in his stats.
If F-level stats were equivalent to an average human, then F+ represented the level of an athlete. E- was approximately the peak of human limits.
As for D-level...
Chen Shang materialized a small fruit knife in his personal space and lightly slashed his arm with it. He used enough force to slice through the muscles of an ordinary human. However, the knife only managed to cut through his skin, and as the blood began to flow, it immediately stopped. When Chen Shang wiped the blood away, there wasn't even a visible wound left.
This entire process had taken just over ten seconds.
That was the resilience of a D-level constitution.
"Ah, I remember, I still have a lottery spin."
Chen Shang recalled the notification from earlier, where he had earned a reward for a perfect performance during his previous livestream.
