Lin Fei turned around.
He saw a familiar figure.
"Senior Sister Ling, you're here to take a task too?"
Lin Fei looked directly at Ling Yao.
Ling Yao had been an inner sect disciple before,
and now Lin Fei was also an inner sect disciple.
Their statuses were now equal.
Ling Yao's eyes slightly narrowed.
She seemed to have noticed Lin Fei's token.
"So, you have become an inner disciple."
"Looks like you've reached Body Refinement Level Seven?"
"Just recently promoted to Level Seven."
Lin Fei replied politely.
Ling Yao appraised Lin Fei from head to toe,
then said directly,
"You came to the Mission Hall to take a task, right?
Inner disciples consume far more resources than outer disciples."
"I have a task here.
Well, it's more like a personal commission.
I wonder if you're interested?"
"What kind of task?"
"I have a distant cousin in Yishan Prefecture City.
Recently, her family has had some trouble."
"There's a Flower Picking Thief active in Yishan, suspected to be Body Refinement Level Seven or above."
"My cousin's family sent me a letter asking me to stay in Yishan and protect her for a while."
"But I have an urgent task and cannot go, so I entrusted you to go to Yishan."
"The deadline is one month.
I'll give you 10,000 Contribution Points upfront.
Afterwards, my cousin's family will pay you 20,000 taels of silver."
"If you can capture or kill that Flower Picking Thief,
not only will you get the silver from my cousin's family,
but there's also a bounty from the government."
Lin Fei's eyes brightened.
But after some consideration, he asked with doubt,
"This is too generous.
30,000 taels of silver would even attract Acquired warriors.
Why entrust such a task to a mere Body Refinement warrior like me?"
Ling Yao smiled.
"You are no ordinary Body Refinement warrior.
With your Nine Shadow Saber Technique at Perfect Mastery,
it's rare that anyone in Body Refinement could withstand even one of your strikes."
"Moreover, while 30,000 taels could hire Acquired warriors,
those warriors wouldn't be grateful.
Giving it to you is like a timely help—more meaningful."
"Well, do you accept the task?"
Lin Fei looked meaningfully at Ling Yao.
She was straightforward, even mentioning "timely help."
Clearly, she wanted to recruit Lin Fei.
After all, no matter who they entrusted
with Lin Fei's strength, it made little difference.
"All right, I accept this task. Thank you for your kindness, Senior Sister Ling!"
Lin Fei cupped his fists and saluted.
Ling Yao smiled and said,
"I'll transfer 10,000 Contribution Points to you first.
I'll also write a letter for you to present to the Liu Family in Yishan."
Ling Yao transferred the Contribution Points and gave Lin Fei the letter.
"The Flower Picking Thief must have excellent agility,"
Lin Fei thought.
"Waiting around for a month is a waste of time.
The best way is to capture or kill that thief."
"But to catch them, I need Martial Arts that enhance agility and speed."
Lin Fei went to the Martial Arts Pavilion again.
With Ling Yao's 10,000 Contribution Points and his own savings,
purchasing agility-type Martial Arts was no problem.
There were many agility and speed Martial Arts.
Agility was important in combat.
Like Ling Yao,
her agility was so good that even Lin Fei's Perfect Mastery Nine Shadow Saber Technique couldn't touch her.
Lin Fei wanted Martial Arts that combined agility and speed.
That was hard to find.
After all, Body Refinement warriors lacked Inner Power.
Agility was only quick movement and dodging.
As for speed?
That depended on brute strength.
After searching for a long time, Lin Fei found a Martial Art he could accept:
"Adhering To Clothes Technique."
It had light, nimble movements, allowing agile dodges in tight spaces.
Lin Fei read the introduction and felt quite satisfied.
Speed-wise, he gave up hope.
Without Inner Power, speed was impossible.
Better to compete on endurance.
After all, Body Refinement warriors rely on stamina and strength for speed.
Lin Fei exchanged for the technique and spent half an incense stick's time memorizing it.
"Your Adhering To Clothes Technique has entered the beginner stage after half an incense stick's hard cultivation."
Lin Fei was intrigued.
"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh."
He began agile movements in the practice room,
which was narrow but he moved like a light swallow,
darting flexibly.
"Good agility, hopefully as diligent as Dragon Elephant Vajra Fist."
Lin Fei was pleased with this Martial Art.
Its personality was still unknown.
He preferred Martial Arts that were diligent,
requiring no extra effort from him.
Lin Fei now had agility.
He did not delay.
Packing his gear, carrying his big sword,
this was Lin Fei's second time leaving the sect.
This time, he did not need to take a task.
Inner disciples were free to leave the Nine Profound Sect.
So Lin Fei rented a swift horse,
and swiftly departed the sect, leaving in a cloud of dust.
