Among the 244 candidates who successfully passed the second round, more than 60 chose to quit.
In the end, only 180 people decided to continue the exam.
Although they chose to withdraw, passing the second round of the big test already proved their strength.
Entering ordinary higher education institutions posed no problem for them.
As for those who remained, their target was the top-leveling elite universities.
"Now, we will announce the rankings after the second round."
1.Mark Lin, total score: 1605 points.
2.May Zuo, total score: 470 points.
3.Snow Xia, 270 points.
4.Arthur Wang, 265 points.
...
Arthur Wang jumped up in shock and shouted, "This is impossible!"
"How could he possibly be this high?"
In 30 minutes, with one monster every 5 seconds, at most 12 monsters could be killed per minute.
On Hell difficulty, each monster was worth 5 points, so the maximum score per minute was 60 points.
Thirty minutes at maximum is 1800 points.
But that didn't account for the time needed to fight each monster and other factors.
Generally, one could only get between 200 to 400 points.
Someone like May Zuo, with 400 points and 80 monsters killed, was already exceptional.
But Mark Lin's 1605 points meant he killed 301 monsters.
That's 10 monsters per minute—just shy of the absolute limit of 12 per minute.
At this moment, everyone silently thought: Is this guy some kind of monster?
Arthur Wang even suspected Mark Lin of cheating, but he didn't dare say it aloud.
If he said it, he would be offending the entire high command of the Divine Summer Empire.
Who would dare cheat in such a major test? Impossible.
No one had ever tried; it would be suicide.
The whole exam was under full surveillance — cheating was out of the question.
Outside the exam hall, Charles Lu jumped up excitedly.
His face flushed even redder than before.
His heart raced, his hands trembled.
The cup in his hand shook uncontrollably, spilling water everywhere.
"Old Lu, your student is a bit... abnormal."
"Indeed, extremely abnormal."
Charles Lu wanted to curse back, "You guys are the abnormal ones, your whole family is abnormal."
Right now, he desperately wanted to know how Mark Lin had managed this.
In his memory, no one had ever scored this high.
Back then, Sam Su was a prodigy, but only scored 700 points in the second round.
Last year, Mary Lin only scored 650 points.
Mark Lin's score was higher than both of them combined.
The Trial Tower shone beams of light on the candidates who chose to continue.
Under the light, their fatigue vanished and their Spiritual Power was restored.
In the blink of an eye, everyone was back to full strength.
"Next, the third round of the exam begins."
"This round also has three difficulty levels."
"You will face a Boss-Tier monster."
"Normal difficulty: 100 points."
"Nightmare difficulty: 300 points."
"Hell difficulty: 500 points."
The rules were similar to last time.
The previous test focused on sustained combat ability.
This time, it tested your personal limit in combat.
A Boss monster needed to be challenged solo.
Without any assistance, it was a serious challenge for every profession.
Mark Lin was the first to make his choice.
"I choose Hell difficulty."
The examiners saw Mark Lin's choice and started discussing again.
"No surprise, this kid really chose Hell difficulty."
"With his skill strength and summons' power, he's definitely going to be first again."
"Looks like this round's River Peace Province champion will be him."
"Not so fast, there are still two rounds left, especially the fifth round..."
They had hosted many major exams and seen many people turn the tables under pressure.
Although Mark Lin looked strong now, it was not yet certain he would take the provincial top spot.
The gap between Arthur Wang and Mark Lin was already more than 1300 points.
Arthur Wang had come for the provincial top, but now he wasn't even in the top three.
"The first place is mine. There are still two rounds left. I won't lose."
"After the exam, don't let me run into you, or you'll regret it."
Arthur Wang said fiercely and also chose Hell difficulty.
Snow Xia and May Zuo also picked Hell difficulty.
They only had to deal with one monster.
Snow Xia's Elemental Mage and May Zuo's Rogue both had huge burst damage and weren't worried.
After everyone made their choices, the examiners announced the start of the fourth round.
A huge monster appeared before each candidate.
Still a wolf-headed beast, belonging to the Wolf Orc tribe.
The monster held a sword in each hand, twin swords like a swordsman profession.
[Wolf Orc Captain (Boss)]
[Level: 15]
[Strength: 1000]
[Agility: 800]
[Spirit: 500]
[Constitution: 1000]
[Skill: Whirlwind Slash]
Looking at the stats, Mark Lin felt it was somewhat overrated.
Though called Hell difficulty, it was greatly toned down.
Maybe because it was an exam, it was nowhere near the difficulty of a real Hell-level dungeon.
It was only slightly stronger than the Nightmare-level reinforced elite guarding the gate of the West Sea Mine dungeon.
Far from a true Boss-Tier monster.
Mark Lin understood the empire's reasoning.
If a true Hell-level monster was unleashed, forget Bosses, even small monsters would be too strong for ordinary professionals.
This was a big test to select survivors, not the dead.
Once battle started, Mark Lin lazily issued commands.
Two skeleton warriors rushed forward and simultaneously activated skills.
Violent Strike!
Bang bang.
The Wolf Orc Captain didn't even make a sound and fell down dead.
One shot. Twice.
The examiners were stunned again.
"Again? Another instant kill!"
"The summons even use skills?"
"And the skill power is no joke."
"Mark Lin again and again, too much."
"If he keeps doing this, how can anyone else even play?"
