In a grand and solemn hall, a panicked figure rushed in.
"What is it?" the guild leader asked, his face filled with surprise and confusion.
"Guild leader, it's bad! Someone has posted a massive amount of resources in the Trading Market!" the messenger exclaimed.
"What?" The guild leader's brow furrowed as he responded. "Why didn't we take those orders immediately? Have we sent people to contact them yet? Have we made the arrangements?"
"Guild leader, we can't take those orders. You need to see for yourself," the messenger said.
The guild leader hastily made his way to the Trading Market, where he began to review the orders. Upon seeing the sheer number of them, his mind went blank.
The quantity of materials requested in the orders was so vast, it was hard for him to imagine. However, in order to set such quantities, the materials would have to be available in the warehouse. This was no fake.
"But what does he need Souls for?" the guild leader asked, perplexed.
In their guild, members from various factions existed. After all, understanding your enemy was key to victory, and they had Graveyard Faction players who had started with Soul Bottles as initial items. These players had used the Soul Bottles to absorb souls from the battlefield, which had raised suspicions.
Since then, the Graveyard faction players had continued to use the Soul Bottles to collect souls, but no one knew exactly what they were for. Most players simply collected them out of curiosity.
The guild leader had noticed someone was now offering to buy souls in exchange for resources, and it left him stunned.
"Guild leader, do you think we should trade? Many people have already started to exchange." A worried voice came from the side.
"Exchange? How much Soul do we have? Convert everything into Wood and Stone, and start upgrading our buildings!" the guild leader snapped decisively.
It quickly dawned on him that Souls must have some use, and if they didn't exchange them, others would. If others grew stronger by using Souls, there was a real risk that they would become a target.
"That's ruthless! But who is behind this? Who has the resources to post such orders?" the guild leader mused.
He had quickly realized the seller's plan. It was a blatant move, and while they could not stop it, they were left with little choice but to engage in the exchange.
"Who could possibly post such large orders, and why are they collecting Souls?" Zhetian Zhiyi frowned, deep in thought.
In the Holy Empire, Undead were universally despised. Zhetian Zhiyi had developed in a secluded graveyard with the help of his guild's internal contacts. He had also been collecting Souls, but he had no idea what they were actually used for.
"Guild leader, who do you think is collecting them? Could it be him?" one of his subordinates asked.
"Are you talking about The Eternal Night King?" Zhetian Zhiyi responded bluntly.
It wasn't just him—almost every guild with some power was guessing the same.
After all, Lin Jin was the most high-profile player in the game, and all the guilds knew each other's movements. If anyone collected such a huge amount of resources, they would definitely use it for themselves and not trade it away.
"Could be The Eternal Night King, but I suspect he's completing a quest. There's no way someone could gather this much resources. Even if he has Legendary Heroes, he wouldn't have enough forces to defeat that many enemies in such a short time!" Zhetian Zhiyi continued, analyzing the situation.
"Perhaps he triggered some special quest where Souls are exchanged for resources, and he was able to gather the Souls beforehand, entering into some sort of gambling agreement?" he hypothesized.
"Boss, you're brilliant! That makes perfect sense. A single player couldn't amass this much—he must have triggered a special quest!" his vice president said, scratching his head in admiration.
"Looks like The Eternal Night King is most likely a Lone Player, and probably from the Graveyard faction," Zhetian Zhiyi pondered.
Only a Lone Player would make such transactions. A guild would never let such a quest slip through their hands; they would take it and let the entire guild benefit. Moreover, guild activities were usually transparent, and no guild had made any huge leaps within three days, further suggesting that Lin Jin wasn't part of any guild.
His collection of Souls, combined with his Graveyard Faction affiliation, only reinforced this conclusion. Zhetian Zhiyi sighed in relief.
If Lin Jin wasn't from the Holy Order or the Forest Faction, then everything would be much easier.
"Guild leader, shall we trade?" one of his subordinates asked.
"Trade? Why not? This is his quest, but it's our opportunity as well. We've gathered the most Souls, so see if you can use this chance to make contact with him." Zhetian Zhiyi said without hesitation.
Though he himself was from the Graveyard Faction, Zhetian Zhiyi had no idea what Souls were truly used for, and in his view, Souls were hardly rare items. With so many wild monsters around, any living being could be harvested for Souls.
"Heh, a Lone Player from the Graveyard Faction, just a useless nobody," Shen Zhi Yan sneered coldly, his contempt for Lin Jin evident.
His guess was the same as Zhetian Zhiyi's.
If Lin Jin was from the Holy Order, Shen Zhi Yan might have been more cautious, but since he was Undead, Lin Jin was simply a non-issue. No matter how well his early game had gone, he would never rise to the top.
"Guild leader, we've already allied with the Church of Light, so dealing with the Undead is a piece of cake!" Shen Zhi Yan smirked.
"For now, he still has some use. Let's get someone to collect Souls and prepare to trade for resources."
