"Ugh…" Chloe Mu had just wanted to say something to her friend, but the call had already ended. Frustrated, she muttered, "Such a traitor, ditching friends for a guy."

"9 minutes and 13 seconds," Ethan Wu said calmly.

"What… 9 minutes and 13 seconds?" Chloe, still fuming, looked up at Ethan, stunned. Then, she froze.

[In 9 minutes and 13 seconds, she'll call you to say she can't make it.] This was what Ethan had said to her earlier.

Suddenly, Chloe clutched her phone and opened her call log, scrolling quickly.

The time of her friend's incoming call was 10:16:23 p.m. If she subtracted 9 minutes and 13 seconds, that was exactly 10:07:10 p.m. And indeed, when Chloe had checked earlier, it had been exactly 10:07, even though she hadn't looked to the second.

Chloe was dumbfounded.

"This… this… this can't be…" she muttered, staring wide-eyed at Ethan before collapsing into her chair in shock.

"Believe me now?" Ethan asked with a smile.

"You…" Chloe, who had drunk quite a bit, felt instantly sobered by the shock. "Can you predict the future?"

"It's not predicting the future. Let me reiterate—I'm stuck in this same day over and over. I've met you before."

"You… Haha, fine, I get it now!" Chloe laughed suddenly, as if something had clicked. "You must know my friend and teamed up with her to mess with me, right?"

"Forget it. No point in explaining further," Ethan said with a wry smile.

For a thousand years, Ethan had told countless people about his endless loop in the same day. Since it would all reset when he fell asleep, he didn't care whether they believed him.

But almost no one ever did.

So, he usually just spoke his mind, unconcerned if the other person believed him or not. No need for over-explanation.

"Hah! I knew it—you teamed up with her to fool me! Thought you could outsmart me, huh?" Chloe seemed pleased with her "discovery."

"Where did this punk come from, causing trouble here?"

"Hey, miss, did he call you ugly? Need us to teach him a lesson?"

Suddenly, a group of street thugs, rough and shady-looking, crowded around Chloe from behind.

Initially, Ethan and Chloe's conversation hadn't drawn any attention. But when Chloe slammed the table and stood up, the thugs in the bar took notice.

Chloe was quite beautiful, despite her heavy makeup, which didn't entirely conceal her good looks.

Ethan, having seen countless women, had high standards. While he didn't care for heavy makeup, he had still given Chloe a seven.

But to others, Chloe was definitely a striking beauty.

"Kid, what did you just say? Called this beautiful lady ugly, huh?"

"Miss, is this guy harassing you? Why don't you come have a drink with us? We'll take care of him!"

The group of thugs pulled at Chloe and cursed at Ethan.

"What are you doing? Let go! Do you know who I am? Get your hands off me…" Chloe protested, pushing and shoving.

It was obvious what the thugs were after.

Thinking of Ethan as a friend of her best friend, Chloe considered him an ally, while she saw the thugs as the ones causing trouble.

Bang!

A loud crack stunned everyone.

One of the thugs dropped to a squat, clutching his head, which was bleeding.

"If you're gonna fight, get on with it. Don't waste time talking," Ethan said, standing up and holding a broken beer bottle. He had acted so quickly that the others hadn't even realized what had happened.

"Damn, this guy dared to make a move!"

"Get him!"

Several thugs surged forward to attack Ethan, who raised his hand and struck one of them directly.

Thud!

"Agh! My eye!"

Ethan held the jagged edge of the broken bottle and drove it into a thug's left eye, causing blood to spurt out.

He then swung the bottle back.

It slashed across another thug's neck—a move aimed to kill. Ethan didn't care about taking lives; he had lost track of how many people he'd killed. After all, everything would reset, so it didn't matter.

The thug managed to pull back just in time, but felt a cold slash across his neck.

Touching it, he found his hand covered in blood.

The wound wasn't deep, but it bled profusely.

The group of thugs was frozen in fear, completely terrified. Even among those in the criminal underworld, no one dared go for the kill so casually.

Hurting someone badly could be dealt with, even if it left them crippled or paralyzed, as money could cover it. But killing someone—that was serious business.

The thugs stepped back, fear evident on their faces.

"Somebody help! He's trying to kill us!"

The bar was instantly thrown into chaos, with patrons rushing out in a panic.

At a nearby booth, several men stood up at once.

One of them, a man with a long face and a beard, was the thugs' leader—their "big brother." He had noticed the commotion when Chloe had slammed the table earlier and sent his men to bring her over.

"Dammit!" The bearded man led his men over aggressively.

Seeing one of his guys with an injured eye and another with a bleeding neck, one thug was frantically dialing 911, fearing he might bleed to death.

The men around the bearded leader were skilled fighters and were about to make a move, but he raised a hand to stop them.

Ethan remained calm as he saw the bearded man approaching. He tossed the bloodstained beer bottle onto the table and sat down as if nothing had happened.

The bearded man hesitated.

The young man before him was only in his early twenties, yet he had acted with ruthless efficiency, calm as ever.

He had to be either a madman or someone with a powerful background—neither type was worth provoking.

"Quick, get them to a hospital," the bearded man instructed his men, sending the injured thugs away.

The thug with the eye injury would likely lose his left eye.

This was a minor issue compared to the man with the neck wound. If he didn't make it, they'd be in serious trouble.

"Tom Liu, you've got some nerve, causing trouble in a bar. Is this how Jack Zhao taught you to behave?" Ethan said calmly, looking at the bearded man.

"You know me? And my boss?" Tom Liu thought to himself, "As I suspected…"

Ethan knew every major figure in Sea City, as well as their deepest secrets. In fact, he knew anyone in Sea City with even a bit of status.

With millions in the city, he couldn't know everyone, but anyone of particular interest was familiar to him.

However, since time reset every day, each day was a new beginning, so Ethan didn't actually have any connections.

These people didn't recognize him.

But that didn't matter. Knowing them was enough, and if he wanted to make an introduction, it was easy enough to do.

"This is Wayne Wang's turf. You guys from Jack Zhao's crew stirring up trouble here aren't afraid of ending up feeding the fish, huh?" Ethan added.

Tom Liu's expression changed.

He already suspected that Ethan might be some new hitman hired by Wayne Wang.

There was a longstanding rivalry between Wayne and his boss, Jack Zhao.

Normally, Tom would avoid Wayne Wang's bars, or at least avoid causing trouble there. But today, Wayne's family was holding a funeral, so his men had left to pay their respects, leaving only regular security at the bar. That's why Tom had dared to bring his gang here.

Could it be that this kid was the new enforcer Wayne had brought in?

"Brother, what gang are you from?" Tom asked, now respectfully.

Ethan looked at him coolly, not bothering to reply.

"Just so you know, even if you're with Wayne Wang, going this hard isn't exactly playing by the rules!" Tom's tone turned harsher again. "Second Brother was sent to the hospital. If he doesn't make it, not even Wayne Wang will be able to protect you!"

"Hah!" Ethan chuckled.

He picked up his phone, quickly dialed a number, and waited as it rang…
