The ferocious fire dragon devoured the entire eerie being. Wave after wave of raging flames swept through. Chad's hair was blown wildly, but his expression remained resolute and calm. Suddenly, the already devoured giant spore erupted with endless fury. Chad's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly retreated.
Before him, the giant spore, engulfed in flames, underwent a drastic transformation. Beneath the originally dense and numerous white spores, hard scales grew. With a roar, the scaled eerie being burst out of the flames and fiercely lunged at Chad. He was prepared and nimbly dodged with a backward step.
"Not bad, the creatures in the second zone are indeed harder to deal with than those in the first," he thought to himself. If this was only the second zone, he could only imagine how terrifying the eerie beings must be in the fifth zone!
The resurrected eerie being had transformed. It was no longer the wriggling, fat worm-like appearance from before; instead, it resembled a strong and ferocious bull! The solid scales reflected a metallic sheen under the dark moonlight. Its streamlined body curve and explosive muscles demonstrated the formidable strength within this newly born creature.
Chad squinted his eyes and took out the Soul-Capturing Bell from his chest. "Perfect, let's test the power of this artifact on you!" he thought, aiming at the eerie being before him. He rhythmically rang the bell in his hand. This fourth-stage artifact emitted ripples of sound waves that traveled through the air.
Soon after, the eerie being shook its head and staggered. Its fierce eyes displayed signs of dizziness. "It's indeed a powerful and precious artifact. The effect is amazing!" Chad exclaimed as he continuously rang the bell. The soul-captivating power completely suppressed the creature before him, making it resemble a "drunken" old bull.
Seeing this, Chad didn't hesitate. His eyes turned sharp, and a giant fire sword appeared in his hand. With a swing, the flaming giant sword sliced off the creature's head. "Boom!" The headless corpse crashed to the ground. A dark red bead and a shield burst out. Chad's eyes lit up as he looked at the shield, and his heart skipped a beat.
He quickly collected the loot, along with the fourth-stage spirit crystal. The shield was actually another artifact! "Including the Soul-Capturing Bell, I've obtained two artifacts in just one mist!" he thought. "This luck is unparalleled!" Obtaining two artifacts at once was an extremely rare occurrence, like winning the second prize in a lottery—incredibly lucky.
Chad walked forward and kicked over the huge eerie corpse. A black box lay quietly on the ground. He picked it up, knowing this was his true objective. The black box was always the best resource obtainable in every mist. Behind him, only two injured members of the Awakened team lay on the ground, gasping for breath. By eliminating the source, Chad had indirectly saved them.
He wasn't worried about them having ulterior motives and directly opened the black box. Click! A small flame quietly burned inside, light purple and extremely hot. Beneath the flame, there was a bottle of potion. Chad glanced at it and realized its effect was to develop potential and enhance the qualities of an Awakened's body, indirectly enhancing strength.
"The small flame can increase the temperature of a fire-attribute Awakened's ability, and the potion can enhance my own six-dimensional attributes," he noted. "Not bad; the items in this black box are unexpectedly abundant..." Chad thought, considering it possibly a reward for first coming to the second zone.
Shaking his head, he dismissed those thoughts and took out the compass to leave the center of the mist. The boss in the center had been dealt with, but this wasn't a dungeon instance where all the monsters would disappear when the boss died. Chad still needed to clear out other eerie beings in the mist, save unarmed ordinary people, and obtain more spirit crystals.
In the following time, he became like a specter in the night, constantly seeking out eerie beings and harvesting their lives. Soon, he completely cleared all the eerie beings in the mist. After the mist disappeared, Chad returned with a plethora of loot.
Back at the Spiritual Energy Association, his teammates from 433 were still nowhere to be seen. They didn't know that the one who had threatened them, William, had already died at Chad's hands. Chad certainly wouldn't reveal this himself. He enjoyed the undisturbed peace of his training room.
However, early the next morning, Chad encountered an unexpected person at the Spiritual Energy Association in the second zone: Dolores, the vice president from the first zone.
