"Ding! Tamable creature detected. Binding Divine Beast Tamer System… 90%…"

"Ding! Divine Beast Tamer System bound successfully. Usage unlocked."

Before Mu Liang could fully register what had happened, a message appeared in his mind.

Only after reading it did he understand. A high-dimensional intelligent system designed for cultivating Beast Tamer Systems had been caught in a spacetime vortex during transmission and merged with Mu Liang as he transmigrated.

'No wonder this is high-dimensional technology— even a vocational cultivation system can influence reality in a lower-dimensional world.' Mu Liang marveled inwardly, then turned his attention to clarifying the Divine Beast Tamer System's functions.

Because permissions were still low, its current uses were simple: taming animals and evolving them. As host, he could inherit a portion of each creature's talent. He gained one taming opportunity per day, and evolution required Evolution Points. Evolution Points were earned by consuming energy-bearing items.

Drawing on his gaming experience, Mu Liang mentally asked the system, "System, can you generate my physical attributes?"

"Ding! Baseline body scan in progress…"

Moments later a virtual interface appeared on his retina:

Beast Tamer System: Mu Liang

Stamina: 3

Speed: 2.6

Strength: 3.2

Spirit: 2.7

Lifespan: 24 years / 79 years

Taming Points: 10 (daily refresh; accumulable)

Evolution Points: 0

Abilities: None

(Normal human baseline: 1)

Domesticated Beast: None

Mu Liang's smile curved his lips. "I can live to seventy-nine—didn't see that coming."

"Mu Liang, will you stay?"

Mino hadn't caught his words but saw him smile and assumed he'd agreed to remain.

"I'll go pay your tax."

Without waiting for his reply, Mino hurriedly packed—afraid he might refuse. She returned seven little lizards to her pouch, then selected five dried lizards from the box, leaving three as rations.

Mino glanced sadly at the turtle in Mu Liang's hands—her sister had given it to her for pest control in the shack. A single turtle equaled ten lizards in tax value.

"We're still thirty-three lizards short."

Mino did quick mental arithmetic, then brightened. "Three days—we just need more Stone Press Traps. We'll make it."

"Mino, you can't turn in this turtle."

Mu Liang shook his head, halting her plan.

"Why not?"

Mino's face went pale and anxious. "Mu Liang, you really don't want to stay?"

"May I keep the turtle?" Mu Liang replied without addressing her question.

"Huh? You want the turtle?" Mino stared for three stunned seconds.

She hadn't heard him say he'd leave and now beamed. "Sure—it's yours."

Setting down her pouch, Mino tilted her head and murmured, "Without the turtle, we need forty-three more lizards…"

"Maybe we should set traps farther out," Mu Liang mused, studying her as she clumsily sketched a map in the dirt. He smiled inwardly, warmed by the turtle in his hands.

"System, domesticate the turtle in my hand." Mu Liang issued the command mentally.

"Ding! Level-0 creature · Land Turtle detected. Taming in progress…"

"Ding! Consumed 10 Taming Points. Taming successful."

Two notifications chimed in his mind as the turtle glowed white. Its shell began to enlarge, so Mu Liang gently placed it on the ground.

"Clear some space."

He guided a bewildered Mino back a few steps.

"What's happening?" Mino peered toward the door, then gasped as the turtle on the glowing ground swelled in size.

"Is it a Beast?" she whispered in terror, face draining of color. Mino drew a bone spike from her belt and prepared to strike.

"Don't! It's fine," Mu Liang called out, catching her arm.

"If it becomes a Beast, we'll be doomed!"

Mino had witnessed Beast rampages and still shuddered at the memory.

"Relax—it's already Domesticated." Mu Liang soothed her. By now the turtle had fully transformed.

Once palm-sized, it now measured over a meter in both length and width. Its head appeared menacing, and the dark brown shell was pitted like rough stone.

"Ding! Level-0 · Land Turtle evolved: Rock Turtle (Level 1)."

"Domesticated?" Mino blinked and asked cautiously, "Really? It won't bite?"

"Of course not. I'll show you."

Mu Liang called the Rock Turtle with a gesture, sending his intention through their bond. The system had established a mental link upon taming, allowing Mu Liang to sense its friendliness.

The Rock Turtle crawled forward, nuzzling Mu Liang's palm with its head—its rough shell felt like petting a rock.

"See? I wasn't lying."

Mu Liang smiled at Mino.

"How did you do it?" she marveled, eyes wide behind her hand.

"Remember—Awakeners can accomplish things like this."

Mu Liang answered lightly.
