"Eek eek!"

Startled by the huge beast, the small monkey jumped up and nearly lost its footing, almost falling from the tree.

In panic, it grabbed a branch with both hands, hanging on.

Behind, Bai Zhe's eyes flashed fiercely. His muscles tensed, and he suddenly lunged forward.

With a "whoosh," Bai Zhe's body sped forward two meters, quickly closing in on the small monkey.

The monkey was terrified and ran forward clumsily, stumbling several times.

Their monkey group mostly stayed in the trees. Even if they encountered snakes, those were usually small, about one meter long at most.

But Bai Zhe chasing them was a real giant at three meters.

Looking at the fleeing monkey, Bai Zhe felt helpless. If he got a bit closer, he could finish the fight in two or three seconds with a charge.

Unfortunately, he was discovered.

Being discovered wasn't a big problem, though. The distance was closing fast.

Bai Zhe calculated and prepared for a fierce strike.

Seeing Bai Zhe chase the monkey, the others screamed loudly, trying to scare him away.

Experienced monkeys were puzzled.

They recognized Bai Zhe as a snake.

They'd never seen a snake this big, and usually snakes stopped moving at this temperature.

But Bai Zhe was still running swiftly.

"Now!"

Bai Zhe's eyes flashed with a gleam. Muscles tensed for a sprint.

At that moment, a streak suddenly flew at him.

"Thud."

The streak hit a branch in front of Bai Zhe, making a heavy sound and abruptly halting his sprint.

"What's going on?"

He looked at the falling object and saw its true form—a persimmon.

The persimmon had almost hit him.

Suddenly, Bai Zhe realized the adult male monkey that had warned him was now throwing an unripe persimmon at him without hesitation.

"Was that earlier persimmon thrown by this monkey?"

As the thought crossed his mind, the persimmon struck him hard.

"Bang!"

Bai Zhe's body shuddered, and he gritted his teeth.

Unripe persimmons are hard, similar to apples or pears.

Other snakes hit by this would probably retract or roll and fall off the branch.

But Bai Zhe's tough scales absorbed much of the impact, so he felt pain but stayed still on the branch.

He looked at the adult male monkey.

Though the hit didn't hurt much, it still angered him.

It was like being bitten by a mosquito—you want to crush it.

That was Bai Zhe's feeling now.

Also, because of the adult monkey's actions, the small monkey had escaped.

Staring fiercely at the adult male, Bai Zhe changed his hunting target from the small monkey to the adult.

The system sounded again, but Bai Zhe ignored it, focusing on the adult male monkey.

At the same time, he began crawling rapidly toward it.

He hadn't planned to hunt the adult, but since it provoked him, he had no one to blame.

Bai Zhe sneered mentally.

But at that moment, his sneer faded, replaced by shock.

He suddenly stopped sprinting and looked up.

The other monkeys in the fruit trees raised fruits in their hands.

"I..."

Bai Zhe wanted to curse but was cut off.

Fruits flew at him.

Thud, thud, thud!

After a series of dull impacts, Bai Zhe turned his head and fled.

His body swiftly slithered along the branches.

Fruits flew past, hitting nearby branches or even him, making him look awkward.

Bai Zhe smiled bitterly.

He had planned to ambush the monkeys as prey, but ended up fleeing in embarrassment.

The hard fruits posed no real danger, but being hit repeatedly was uncomfortable.

Some nearly hit his eyes, forcing him to dodge.

The monkeys behind cheered loudly as he fled but did not stop and continued chasing him.
