A Thought

Kizaru said nothing, his expression serious. He clasped his hands together and then spread them apart to each side, instantly gripping a golden light sword in his hand.

Kizaru transformed into a photon-like fluid, moving at a speed impossible for ordinary people to see clearly.

But Ye Chen's eyes caught a clear flash of golden light in the air.

In a moment, Kizaru crossed dozens of meters and closed in beside Ye Chen, wielding the Ama-no-Murakumo sword, slashing straight down.

At that instant, Ye Chen quickly raised his katana to block in front of him.

Clang clang clang.

The swords clashed, sparks flying. The ground immediately collapsed beneath them, and a massive shockwave erupted, sweeping outward in all directions like a hurricane stirring up layers of dust, pushing it far away.

"Kizaru, your swordsmanship isn't that great," Ye Chen whispered.

Instantly, the katana in Ye Chen's hand glowed, radiating a tremendous Sword Qi fused with his skilled Armament Haki, bursting forth.

Seeing this, Kizaru's pupils shrank sharply. His body turned into photon fluid again and dodged to Ye Chen's side. In a flash, his figure reappeared more than twenty meters away.

"Think you can escape?" Ye Chen sneered, twisting his hands abruptly.

Sword Qi exploded, roaring and tearing across the area like a violent storm, ripping up everything on the ground.

"What?!" Kizaru, just stopping, couldn't help but exclaim.

But there was no time to speak — the Sword Qi storm was already barreling toward him.

"Damn." Kizaru's expression changed as he swung the Ama-no-Murakumo sword in a straight slash.

A three-meter-long Sword Qi clashed against the storm.

However, Kizaru's Sword Qi did not destroy the storm; it was instead swallowed by it.

Staring at the Sword Qi storm so close, Kizaru's mind went blank. Only one thought remained: Escape.

Almost instinctively, Kizaru's right foot stomped the ground dozens of times in rapid succession.

"Tobi" — One of the Six Techniques from Marine Headquarters: continuous stomping of the ground to generate powerful rebound force for high-speed movement.

Zephyr had just used this technique to dodge Esdeath's attack; without it, he would have been seriously wounded or worse.

Using the rebound force generated by Tobi, Kizaru quickly dodged to the right.

After all that maneuvering, even Kizaru felt a bit exhausted. Continuous life-or-death dodging had his entire body and mind focused, placing him under extreme tension.

"Not bad for admiral level," Ye Chen said with a half-smile, his tone ambiguous — was it praise or mockery?

Kizaru, hearing this, gritted his teeth with a dark expression: "Thanks for the compliment."

"Admiral Kizaru has fallen behind — who exactly is this Ye Chen?" Ain, hiding nearby, eyes wide with shock and disbelief.

Since Esdeath and Zephyr started fighting, Ain had kept her distance.

But watching from the sidelines, Ain felt not just shock but helplessness.

This level of battle was beyond her intervention; if she joined in carelessly, she would be torn apart.

The longer she watched, the more she felt both hatred and admiration toward Ye Chen —

Hatred for Ye Chen's reckless disruption of world order,

Admiration for Ye Chen's strength.

Kizaru, his gaze fixed on Ye Chen, caught a glimpse of Ain hiding behind the trees not far away.

Ain stood out — her sea-blue curly hair made her impossible to miss.

"That blue-haired girl over there — you better get far away, or you'll die," Ye Chen said with a light laugh.

Kizaru turned abruptly, surprised to see Ain.

He knew Ain well — one of Zephyr's top students, a genius Zephyr was proud of.

With this in mind, Kizaru said, "Ain, get far away. Better leave this area."

"Yes."

Ain nodded quickly and left, understanding that staying would only slow down Kizaru, Zephyr, and the others.

Watching Ain's figure recede, Kizaru exhaled quietly.

Turning back, Kizaru stared at Ye Chen: "She's just a little girl."

Implying he wouldn't attack Ain.

Curiously, Ye Chen was only about fourteen, close in age to Ain, yet Kizaru spoke to Ye Chen as if to an equal — clearly recognizing Ye Chen as a peer.

"Don't worry, I have no reason to attack her," Ye Chen shook his head and said.

Kizaru breathed a sigh of relief — if Ye Chen had really wanted to hunt Ain down, he wasn't confident he could protect her.

At their level, there was no need to lie about such things.

"Instead of worrying about her, you should worry about yourself."

Ye Chen sheathed his katana, gripping the scabbard with his left hand and the hilt with his right, lowering his stance. His eyes were sharp like swordlight.

"Don't underestimate me, Ye Chen." Kizaru, holding the Ama-no-Murakumo sword, stared back defiantly.

Ye Chen said nothing. In an instant, a cold gleam flashed in the air as he drew his katana.

"Draw a sword and Slash!"
