At night, a chilly autumn breeze swept through the air over Lotus Village.

The streets were eerily silent, the only sound being the rustling of joss paper scattered across the ground, sending shivers down the spine.

Dong dong dong!

Clang!

Suddenly, the sound of a bamboo clapper and a gong echoed from afar.

"The weather is dry—beware of fire!"

A night watchman called out as he slowly walked down the street, occasionally taking a sip of liquor to warm himself.

Tap tap! Tap tap! Tap tap!

Suddenly, footsteps came from the end of the street.

"Who's still wandering around this late?"

The watchman looked curiously toward the street's end.

There, under the moonlight, a shadow was hopping rapidly toward him.

It moved so fast that it arrived just a few meters from him in the blink of an eye.

When the watchman's murky eyes finally made out what it was, his entire body went rigid with fear.

"A... a Zombie! It's a Zombie!!"

A terrified scream burst from his mouth.

The scream instantly woke the surrounding villagers.

What appeared before the watchman was a rotting figure, its pale flesh exuding a foul stench—it was a Zombie.

The horrifying sight made the old man wet himself as he turned and fled in panic.

Unfortunately, there was no way he could outrun a Zombie.

ROAR!!!!

With a thunderous roar, the Zombie lunged forward.

Squelch!!!!

Its iron-hard claws pierced directly through the watchman's chest.

ROAR!!!!

With another roar, the Zombie sank its fangs into the watchman's neck.

The terrified man wanted to cry for help, but with a chest wound that severe, he couldn't utter a sound.

Gulp gulp!!!

Amidst the gurgling sound of blood being sucked, the watchman's body shriveled at a visible speed.

"This is bad! A Zombie!!"

Eventually, the villagers arrived, only to have their faces turn deathly pale the moment they saw the Zombie.

ROAR!!!!

Upon hearing their voices, the Zombie flung aside the lifeless watchman and charged at the villagers with a furious roar.

"Run! A Zombie's coming!"

Seeing it rush at them, dozens of villagers screamed in panic and fled.

"Stand your ground! There's so many of us—are we really afraid of just one Zombie? Where could it even go?"

The village chief roared angrily when he saw everyone cowering. Grabbing a hoe, he charged toward the Zombie.

"Yeah! There's dozens of us—why fear one Zombie!?"

"Let's go!"

"Kill it!"

……

……

Inspired by the old chief's bravery, the villagers snapped out of their panic and raised their tools, charging together at the Zombie.

Boom!!!!

Just as they began their assault, a deafening sound rang out. The first to charge—the old chief—was sent flying like a ragdoll.

Thud!!!!

He crashed heavily onto the ground, coughing up blood, and died on the spot.

Seeing this, all the villagers who had just gained a shred of confidence were instantly paralyzed with fear.

ROAR!!!!

The Zombie let out another howl and lunged at the rest of the villagers.

"Run!"

With a scream of terror, the people once again scattered in chaos.

But this was no ordinary Zombie—it was a powerful White Zombie, much faster than a regular human.

"Ahh!!"

Just then, a teenage girl around fifteen or sixteen tripped and fell to the ground.

Tap tap!!!

In just a second, the White Zombie appeared before her.

ROAR!!!!

With a ghastly roar, it opened its bloodstained jaws and lunged at her.

"Ahhh!!!"

The girl screamed in despair.

Whoosh!!!!

But right at that moment, a sharp sound of something breaking through the air rang out.

Sensing danger, the White Zombie jerked its head up.

BOOM!!!!!

Before it could react, a peachwood coffin came crashing through the air and slammed straight into its chest.

ROAR!!!!

With a shriek of agony, the Zombie was knocked violently backward.

BOOM RUMBLE!!!!

With a thunderous crash, the coffin smashed the Zombie into a wall, creating a massive crater in the stone.

ROAR!!!!

The Zombie let out a pained cry but could no longer move—its entire skeleton had been crushed by the impact.

Thick black blood oozed out from its pale skin, a ghastly sight.

The sudden turn of events left the fleeing villagers frozen in place.

"W-We're saved?!"

The girl, her face drained of color, stared wide-eyed at the Zombie nailed to the wall by the coffin.

"Are you alright!?"

Just then, a warm and magnetic voice reached her ears.

A white-clothed youth had appeared beside her without her even noticing, reaching out his hand to help her up.

Beside him stood a quiet, two-meter-tall man dressed in a pitch-black robe.

Bathed in moonlight, the boy's handsome face instantly made the girl blush.
