"Because I ate at her noodle shop yesterday and tried to buy some spiced beef from her. She refused to sell me even a single slice. She said it was a shop rule—beef isn't sold separately, and rules can't be broken!"

"But look at you—you've got a whole plate of it!"

Meng Yu clenched his teeth in frustration as he spoke. That damn guy—he had even dreamed of eating that beef last night!

"Pfft… Hahaha…" Ouyang Yunjian burst into laughter, bending over and nearly falling off his chair. His laughter lit up the whole room.

Meng Yu was the young master of the capital's Meng Family, and an extremely capable one at that. In just a few years, he had earned hundreds of millions. You could say, apart from the stars and the moon, there was nothing he couldn't get if he wanted it. Yet, to think he'd been turned down over a single slice of beef by Su Zhu!

"You're still laughing? What the hell are you so pleased about?!" Meng Yu grumbled angrily.

"I'm not gloating," Ouyang Yunjian tried to calm himself while catching his breath. "But you really misjudged Su Zhu. She didn't break any rules. She didn't sell the beef to me either—she gave it to me for free!"

"Oh wow, now you're even defending her? Don't act all humble now—you got the benefit and you're still playing innocent."

"I don't care. You better figure out how to get me two pounds of that beef, or this isn't over."

"I can't help you," Ouyang Yunjian refused without hesitation.

"You can't, huh? Fine!" Meng Yu stood up from the bed and headed toward the door.

"Wait, where are you going?" Ouyang Yunjian asked, confused.

Meng Yu put his hand on the doorknob. "I'm going to confess to Uncle. I told him I'd bring beef back from the capital to cover for you. Now I have no idea where to get it. Might as well come clean and tell him his son has a way."

He pulled the door open as he finished speaking.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Ouyang Yunjian rushed over and grabbed his arm, pulling him back into the room. He peeked outside, then shut the door tightly.

"I'll try, okay? But I can't promise she'll agree."

"Now that's more like it." Meng Yu grinned, patting Ouyang Yunjian on the shoulder. "I believe in you. You were the heartthrob of our medical university. If you can't handle this, who can?"

"Let's go tonight!"

"What? Tonight?" Ouyang Yunjian's mouth dropped open. "Are you crazy? I just came back yesterday, and now you want me to go again? What will people think?"

"Where there's a will, there's a way!"

"Just say you forgot to give some discharge instructions when Chenchen left the hospital, and you need to follow up."

"That's a terrible excuse. Makes me look completely unprofessional. How can she trust me as a doctor after that?"

"Then what do we do? Come on, there has to be a way!"

While Meng Yu racked his brain trying to figure out how to get some of Su Zhu's spiced beef, over at the back of Chenchen's Hand-Pulled Noodle House, in Su Zhu's home, she was frantically turning over boxes and searching for something.

Chenchen's pill splitter was missing!

Every other night, Chenchen had to take a medication called Midostaurin to boost her platelet count. The pills were tiny, about the size of a mung bean, and her dosage was precisely three-quarters of a tablet. The amount had to be exact—no more, no less—so they needed a special pill splitter to get it right.

But earlier, while cleaning the house, Su Zhu realized the splitter she kept under the coffee table was missing.

"Chenchen, are you sure you haven't seen it?" Su Zhu asked, crouching and shining a flashlight under the sofa.

"Nope!" Chenchen shook her head firmly.

"That's so weird. I'm pretty sure I put it back there after using it the day before yesterday."

"What do I do now? She needs it tonight, and ordering online won't make it in time!"

"Mommy, I've got an idea!" Chenchen suddenly chimed in.

Su Zhu turned to look at her. "What idea?"

"You can call Uncle Ouyang Yunjian and ask him to bring one. I saw one just like ours in his office."

"You're right!" Su Zhu stood up from the floor. "The hospital does have them. If Dr. Ouyang could help buy one, that'd be great."

"You're so clever, Chenchen." Su Zhu pinched her daughter's cheek in praise.

"But…" she hesitated, "didn't he say yesterday that he's off today? Wouldn't it be too much trouble?"

Su Zhu was always hesitant to bother others. If Ouyang Yunjian were working, it'd be fine. But asking him to go out of his way on his day off…

Just then, Chenchen crossed her arms and said, "Mommy, you're so silly! You could call Uncle Ouyang, and he could ask someone else from the hospital—like Uncle Xiao Zhou, Auntie Rongrong, or Auntie Qianqian…"

She rattled off a list of hospital staff she knew.

"You're right again!" Su Zhu rubbed Chenchen's little head. "Why didn't I think of that? You really are smart!"

"Of course! I'm your daughter, after all!"

"Mommy, if Uncle Ouyang helps us, shouldn't we treat him to dinner?" Chenchen blinked her big eyes as she spoke.

"Of course. I'll make dumplings and invite him over. Sound good?"

"Yes, yes!" Chenchen clapped her hands, thrilled. "Uncle Ouyang's favorite is celery and beef dumplings. You have to make a lot!"

Su Zhu paused, surprised. "How do you know that?"

"Of course I know. One time, I was in his office, and that's what he was eating. I even had several myself!"

"You little foodie." Su Zhu playfully tapped her daughter's nose. "Alright then, we'll make celery and beef dumplings."

"Chenchen, you go play in the room. Mommy's phone is in the kitchen—I'm going to call Uncle Ouyang now."

"Okay, Mommy. Go, go!"

As soon as Su Zhu left, Chenchen peeked out the door, then turned and dashed toward the bedroom.
