Inside the police car, Tina Shen fell into deep thought. From the family's account, it seemed that the deceased's body had been accompanied by family members throughout its entire journey into the funeral home and before being sent to the cremation room. After the cremation, the workers took out the ashes, and the family placed them in the urn before returning home. This meant that the ashes couldn't have been swapped during this process.

The only possible issue could have occurred during the cremation itself. However, family members were not allowed to observe the cremation, so it was at this stage that the body could have been swapped. According to the case file, the investigators had reviewed the crematorium's surveillance footage at the time, which showed no one or vehicle entering or leaving the premises to steal the body. The footage was still sealed in the archives.

This was extremely puzzling! How could human cremated ashes be replaced with pig bones? Even magic tricks wouldn't dare to pull something like this off; even in movies, it wouldn't be portrayed this way. Could this be a supernatural event?

While Tina Shen was deep in thought about the case, suddenly, the police car screeched to a halt with a loud "screech!" Tina Shen turned to look at Kevin Guo in surprise.

"Something's happened," Kevin Guo said with a grave expression.

Indeed, something had happened. Through the car window, Tina Shen saw seven or eight burly men beating someone on the side of the road. This was a bustling street, and there were many stores nearby. The incident had taken place outside a fitness center. The attackers, dressed in gym clothes, were beating a man who was lying on the ground, curled up and clutching his head…

Without hesitation, Tina Shen pushed open the car door and walked toward them, with Kevin Guo following closely behind. Both of them were in plain clothes, as criminal police officers rarely wore uniforms for ease of investigation.

"Stop! Police!" Tina Shen shouted coldly as she approached.

The eight gym-goers stopped immediately, staring at Tina Shen with snarling faces, confusion in their eyes. Police? It was no wonder they were suspicious—Tina Shen was quite attractive, and if they were to say she resembled a celebrity, it would be more believable than saying she looked like a police officer. She was 22 years old, but she looked like a university student. Tina Shen felt a bit helpless about this. After all, she couldn't blame her parents for making her look so good, could she?

Tina Shen showed her police badge, and the expressions of the eight men changed instantly.

"What's going on?" Kevin Guo asked sharply, his face cold as he stared at the men. "Why are you assaulting someone?"

None of the men spoke, and more and more people began to gather around. It seemed that people couldn't resist the urge to watch an unfolding spectacle.

Tina Shen crouched down and glanced at the victim. He was covered in blood, unconscious, and badly injured. Tina Shen took out her phone and called 120 for an ambulance, her gaze sweeping coldly over the eight men.

"What are you looking at? Think the police are so impressive?" one of the burly men glared at Tina Shen.

Hmm? Tina Shen was momentarily stunned, then smiled. The audacity to be so cocky already? Kid, have you watched too many gangster movies to dare challenge a police officer?

"Everyone, hands on your heads, squat down," Tina Shen ordered, without hesitation, her voice stern.

Kevin Guo took out his phone to call for backup.

"Squat down? Go f**k yourself," another man sneered, "Do you have a gun?"

Tina Shen was completely stunned, feeling that something was off. What era was this? Who would challenge or insult a police officer in their right mind nowadays? Was it stupidity, or did these men have some kind of backup?

Things took an even stranger turn. Suddenly, one of the men yelled, "The police hit someone, the police hit someone!" The other seven men immediately surrounded Tina Shen and Kevin Guo, while one man quietly began to retreat.

So that's it! Tina Shen narrowed her eyes, coldly observing the man. It seemed that they weren't fools, but that this man had probably committed something serious.

Suddenly, the man who had been sneaking away bolted.

"Stop!" Tina Shen shouted coldly, raising her leg to pursue him.

"F**k you!" a burly man threw a punch at Tina Shen's face.

As this punch came out of nowhere, Tina Shen's mind raced. In the current legal system, there were severe penalties for assaulting a police officer, and the consequences would be serious. These men had the audacity to strike, meaning the one trying to escape had likely committed something far worse than just assaulting an officer. What could it be?

Tina Shen tilted her head slightly, and the punch grazed her cheek. Since obtaining the "Combat Expert" skill from the system, she had been longing for a chance to fight. But, regrettably, she hadn't had the opportunity until now. In an instant, countless combat techniques, ingrained deep in her mind, body, and cells, surged like a tide.

After dodging the punch, Tina Shen's body shot forward like a leopard, her leg swinging rapidly, like a whip or a large axe. "Thud!" Her foot, clad in leather shoes, struck the man's face with force. The man, at least 6'1" and over 200 pounds, fell to the ground like a wooden post, motionless.

The scene froze instantly, and everyone was stunned. Just as Tina Shen was about to continue chasing the man who had run four or five meters ahead, the other men snapped back to their senses and charged at Tina Shen, fists and feet flying.

"Damn…" Tina Shen almost cursed, quickly turning to shout at Kevin Guo, "Go after him, I've got this!"

Kevin Guo hesitated for a moment, then without a word, chased after the escaping man. One of the burly men tried to block him, but Tina Shen was faster. Like a predator, she darted in front of him. She raised her arm, delivering a swift and ruthless chop to his throat. "Thud," the man gasped, doubling over. Immediately, with a sharp knee strike, Tina Shen's knee slammed into the man's face. The force of the blow sent the man crashing to the ground, unconscious.

"Last warning!" Tina Shen's eyes were cold as ice as she looked at the remaining five men. "Hands on your heads, squat down!"

The five men exchanged looks, their expressions becoming more savage. They charged toward Tina Shen again.

This was too odd… Tina Shen's expression grew colder. What's wrong with them? Have they gone mad?
