"33 hours... was that the time you carefully calculated?" Tina Shen crossed her arms, her tone sharp, her gaze piercing as she locked eyes with Tom He. "We never found the person who made the call to the police. That call, I'm sure, was made by you, wasn't it?"

"You went to great lengths to mislead the police, to make everyone suspect another culprit, to have the primary personality act as the innocent one. In truth, the primary personality had no knowledge of this gruesome massacre—it was all masterminded by you, the secondary personality," Tina Shen continued.

"The polygraph didn't detect any lies, confirming his story. Plus, the mismatch in the time of the crime solidified his innocence," Tina Shen shook her head, her tone slightly filled with disbelief. "I must admit, your plan was quite meticulous."

"Since everything seems flawless," Tom He's face, still twisted with resentment, now reflected confusion, "How did you see through it all?"

"Overcompensation," Tina Shen mocked ruthlessly. "You shouldn't have left your fingerprints on the murder weapon. I get it—you wanted to make the police think the killer was taunting them, mocking them..."

"What's wrong with that?" Tom He furrowed his brows, his gaze turning colder, "That little slip-up isn't enough to pin this on me."

"Exactly, to a regular person, they'd think the killer was trying to provoke the police, and you succeeded at first," Tina Shen's mind recalled the angry faces of her task force team, and a faint smile formed on her lips. "But think about it—someone who goes to such lengths to erase evidence, who would clean the rooftop in freezing cold weather, even drill locks... but then, they leave behind obvious fingerprints? Does that make sense?"

"That's not a reason," Tom He sneered dismissively.

"Not enough?" Tina Shen's eyes dropped to Tom He's hands. "What about your hands?"

"My hands?" Tom He's expression froze in shock, and he subconsciously glanced at his handcuffed hands.

"They're unnaturally steady," Tina Shen's expression turned serious. "That steadiness reminded me of a case I solved before, a multiple personality homicide case. The suspect in that case had the same kind of hands—hands that only started trembling when the secondary personality's crimes were revealed."

This was an extremely rare phenomenon, only seen in those with multiple personalities. Studies showed that each personality in such a person often developed a unique habit, a strengthening of certain parts of the body's nervous system. Tom He's hands were unnaturally steady—something that should have shaken him up, like anyone else.

Tina Shen recalled a paper published by a medical scholar, which stated that many primary personalities in multiple personality patients possess unnaturally stable hands. When someone can stretch their fingers perfectly still, it's time to be extra cautious.

"I see now," Tom He's face twisted into a strange smile as he looked up at Tina Shen. "So you guessed, but so what? This is just your deduction—it's not evidence to convict me."

In a legal society, relying on mere deduction without evidence couldn't bring a conviction. Tom He's mind was racing, quickly searching for a way to turn this situation around. Tina Shen saw the gears turning in his head. After all, not everyone "luckily" suffers from this mental disorder. Often, one of their personalities is incredibly intelligent, brilliant even.

"Evidence?" Tina Shen shook her head slightly, her voice unwavering. "The existing evidence already proves beyond a doubt that you were behind the massacre."

"What do you mean?" Tom He froze for a moment, then his expression shifted drastically.

When he committed the crime, all the evidence pointed directly at him. To escape, he deliberately planted seemingly illogical clues to mislead the police into thinking there was another killer. But now, if it was confirmed that he was the culprit, those original clues would become irrefutable proof.

"You know, you shouldn't have revealed yourself," Tina Shen mocked. "If you hadn't shown up, my deduction couldn't have been confirmed. It would have remained just a suspicion. The primary personality truly is innocent, the polygraph even confirmed that. With sufficient evidence, the police wouldn't have been able to convict him."

"But instead, you—this self-important personality—decided to show yourself. Wasn't that just digging your own grave?"

"So what?" Tom He's expression switched to anger and fear, his voice weak, "At worst, I'll be locked up. I won't be executed." In his mind, suffering from a mental illness was his "get out of jail free" card.

"Ever seen someone wrap their feet? How about wrapping their brain?" Tina Shen sneered. "You think death is the worst punishment?"

"Is there something worse than death?" Tom He scoffed, his face full of disdain.

"Ever heard of 'living a life worse than death'?" Tina Shen chuckled darkly. "Every day, you'll be locked in a small cell, strapped to a bed, forced to undergo injections, take medication, and treatments. You'll never see the sun again. Even a normal person would be driven mad in that kind of environment. The physical and psychological torment combined—who can endure that? By then, you might wish for death, but there won't be any chance for it. This torment will follow you for the rest of your life, until your last breath."

Tom He's face went pale instantly, his scalp tingling with terror. The mere thought of that future sent shivers down his spine. Compared to a bullet to the head, this kind of punishment seemed far more cruel.

"People do things, and heaven watches," Tina Shen stood up, looking down at the pale Tom He with a cold smile. "The laws of nature never fail, and no one can escape the consequences."
