Ningzhou City Criminal Investigation Team.

"So that's the full story. As for why he killed those people, I don't know," Lin Chen said with a shrug, clearly uninformed.

He wasn't foolish—he gave a complete account of the male corpse chasing the crowd.

He omitted mentioning the ghost, the ghost messenger, and the mysterious chains, knowing the cops wouldn't believe it and might commit him to a psychiatric ward.

Chen Xin, taking the statement, threw down her pen, frowned, and said, "You're joking, right? A man wielding a steel pipe chasing twenty people? You think he's Superman?"

Lin Chen replied seriously, "But that's what happened. The master was live-streaming, and some people were recording on their phones. If you don't believe me, check the footage."

Chen Xin snapped angrily, "I suggest you be honest and tell the full truth without hiding anything."

"Why yell at me? I didn't kill anyone. I'm just a bystander. Which law says you can't watch a spectacle?" Lin Chen sneered.

Chen Xin was told to rest by Director Zhao, who took over recording the statement.

Chen Xin left, glaring fiercely at Lin Chen.

Watching her leave, Director Zhao smiled and said, "Young man, I know you're holding back. You did right. Some things are better left unsaid. This case will be classified as a dispute within a scam gang, leading to intentional homicide. You understand what I mean?"

Lin Chen was stunned by the director's insight.

"So can I go home now?"

"Of course. You can take your daughter and friend home now."

"Wait! Daughter?"

Lin Chen hurriedly shook his head, "I'm not married! That little girl isn't my daughter! I don't even know her!"

"Missing persons cases aren't handled by us. Go to the local police station. They'll help," Director Zhao said, then left the interrogation room.

After the chaos at the office building and police station, it was dawn by the time Lin Chen walked out of the police station with the Little Loli in his arms.

Li Mo was silent, unsure of what to think.

Without the Yin-Yang Eye, he hadn't seen the ghost-controlled corpse or the ghost messenger and had passed out after escaping the lobby.

He believed Director Zhao's explanation—that it was a dispute within a scam gang resulting in homicide.

"Old Lin, what now?" Li Mo asked confusedly.

Lin Chen pointed to the sleeping Little Loli.

"First, let's take her to the police station, then we can both go home and find our mothers!"

Li Mo nodded and started the car.

Minutes later, they arrived at the police station.

"Li Mo, wait in the car. I'll hand the child over to the station," Lin Chen said, carrying the Little Loli inside.

Entering the station's lobby, he addressed the on-duty officer.

"Auntie, I found this child near the Economic Development Zone building. Can you help contact her parents?"

The middle-aged female officer, perhaps due to lack of sleep or middle age, had a rude attitude.

She glanced at Lin Chen impatiently and asked, "What's the child's name? Where did you find her?"

"Near the Economic Development Zone building. As for her name, I'll ask." Lin Chen gently shook the Little Loli in his arms.

The girl slowly opened her eyes, and he asked, "What's your name, little one?"

The Little Loli blinked innocently and shook her head.

Lin Chen persisted, "Do you remember where you live?"

She shook her head again.

"Do you know your parents' names?"

Still, no answer.

No matter what he asked, the Little Loli remained silent.

Lin Chen sighed, "She won't say anything. Poor kid. Please help find her parents as soon as possible."

The officer took photos of the girl and said, "I've registered a missing person notice online. I'll leave your phone number, so if her parents see it, they can contact you."

"Okay!" Lin Chen nodded.

Just as he was about to give his number, he hesitated and asked, "Why leave my phone number?"

"If the child is with you, whose number should we leave?" the Middle-aged Woman replied without looking up from the keyboard.

Lin Chen frowned, "Shouldn't the child stay here?"

"We're a police station; who has time to care for kids? Leave your number and address. Take her home for now. Her parents will contact you."

Resigned, Lin Chen wrote down his contact info and left the station with the Little Loli.

"Daddy, are we going home now?"

Lin Chen: ...??

Middle-aged Woman: ...??
