In the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace, the Dragon King was gritting his teeth.

Are these two here to request weapons or to mess with the dragons?

One outright rejects everything.

The other? Wants it all.

Is there a difference? Is this supposed to be fun?

The Great King Yellow Wind blinked, smiling.

"Honorable Dragon King, since you've already given two weapons, why stop now? One more won't hurt."

The Dragon King, caught between laughter and tears, waved dismissively.

"Fine, fine. Take it too!"

"Great!" Yellow Wind said cheerfully.

"You're truly the most generous of dragons!"

Sun Wukong chimed in with a laugh.

"Don't frown, Old Dragon King. My virtuous brother here is a master of weapon forging and arrays.

Now that you've given him three treasures, if you ever need a custom-made divine weapon, you can turn to him!"

The Dragon King gave a polite "Oh?" of mild surprise but didn't take it seriously.

What sort of master craftsman could a mere demon be?

Besides, the Dragon Palace had its own skilled artisans.

If it came to forging personal treasures, one could even go to Heaven and request aid from Ghostly Axe and Divine Chisel.

Though pricey, for crafting a life-bound treasure, quality mattered far more than cost.

For these reasons, the Dragon King wasn't particularly impressed.

What good could come from a backwoods craftsman working for random demons?

Monkey King Gets Restless

Seeing Yellow Wind happily walk away with three treasures, while he himself had none, Sun Wukong grew impatient.

"Dragon King, do you have any other weapons?"

The Dragon King replied, "No, nothing left!"

Sun Wukong's brow furrowed.

"Old tales claim, 'The Dragon King of the seas has countless treasures.' Surely you have more! Search again!"

"Why don't you name a price if you find something I like?"

The Dragon King's frustration flared: Whoever said that line, come out! I won't kill you—I promise.

Throwing his hands up, the Dragon King declared, "I truly have nothing left!"

A Standoff at the Palace

The Dragon King had been willing to part with treasures to avoid unnecessary conflict.

But if this monkey kept pushing, he wasn't going to take it lying down.

"Do they think I'm some sickly snake to be toyed with?"

Sun Wukong's Golden Eyes gleamed, clearly discerning the truth—

The Dragon Palace did indeed have more treasures.

But these remaining weapons weren't ordinary—they were spiritual treasures, representing the palace's legacy.

How could the Dragon King part with those?

As the tension mounted, Sun Wukong bared his teeth, exuding a menacing aura.

The Dragon King began to sweat as the atmosphere grew stifling.

Just then, the Dragon Queen and Princess entered, pulling the Dragon King aside to whisper:

"Those two aren't pushovers. The monkey specifically wants something heavy, doesn't he?"

"Isn't there that divine iron from the bottom of the Milky Way? It's been glowing with brilliant light recently. Could it be fated to fall into his hands?"

The Dragon King frowned.

"That's no ordinary object—it's the very iron staff used by Yu the Great to control the waters during his flood mitigation efforts.

It's a sacred artifact that stabilizes the rivers and seas. How could it be given away?"

The Dragon Queen replied,

"Does it matter? We can't use it for anything else. Let him figure out how to wield it himself. At least we'll get rid of him."

The Dragon King considered this and reluctantly agreed.

Better to send them away now than risk calamity later.

A Treasure Found

Returning to Sun Wukong, the Dragon King sighed and said,

"If you can take it, it's yours, Great Sage."

Hearing this, Sun Wukong's interest was piqued.

Following the Dragon King into the sea, he soon saw radiant beams of golden light in the distance.

"That glowing object," the Dragon King pointed out, "is what you seek."

Sun Wukong leapt forward, placing his hands on the glowing iron pillar.

It was as thick as a large wine barrel and about twenty feet long.

Frowning, Sun Wukong remarked,

"Too thick and too long. If only it were shorter and slimmer!"

At these words, the divine iron—seemingly imbued with sentience—shrank in size, becoming several feet shorter and slightly thinner.

Sun Wukong laughed joyfully.

"Perfect! But let's make it just a little slimmer."

The iron complied again, narrowing further.

By the time it fit comfortably in his hand, it revealed its true form:

A black iron rod, capped on both ends with golden hoops.

Etched beside the hoops were the words: Ruyi Jingu Bang (The Compliant Golden-Hoop Staff).

It weighed a staggering 13,500 jin.

Delighted, Sun Wukong exclaimed,

"Virtuous brother, your elder brother has finally found a weapon worthy of him!"

As he walked back, he tested the staff's adaptability, murmuring,

"If only it were even shorter and thinner…"

By the time he emerged from the sea, the staff had adjusted to its portable form: roughly six feet long and as thick as a rice bowl.

Gripping the Ruyi Jingu Bang, Sun Wukong practiced a few swings.

With each move, the sea churned, waves towering like mountains.

The immense display of power left the Dragon King, Dragon Princess, and the aquatic guards trembling in fear, wishing desperately to avoid being struck by that staff.

"This staff is truly extraordinary!" Sun Wukong said, beaming.

The Dragon King, meanwhile, muttered under his breath:

"Curses! That was one of our finest treasures. You reckless Dragon Queen—this is all your doing!"

The Dragon Queen glared, retorting,

"Who could've guessed? That iron has been sitting at the bottom of the sea for eons without showing any change.

But the moment this monkey touched it, it transformed to suit him perfectly. Clearly, it was destined to be his weapon! Don't blame me!"

The Dragon King clutched his chest, feeling the sting of loss.

A divine weapon with such untapped potential—gone, just like that!

Monkey King: Full Battle Gear!

Having secured the Ruyi Jingu Bang, Sun Wukong turned his attention back to the Dragon King and Dragon Princess.

Noticing their splendid attire, he realized how shabby his and Yellow Wind's outfits were in comparison.

Without hesitation, he demanded:

"Now, give me and my brother a proper set of armor each!"

The Dragon King's eyes widened in disbelief.

This monkey is plucking us clean! Is there no end to his greed?

But when Sun Wukong seized the Dragon King by his collar with one hand while brandishing the Ruyi Jingu Bang in the other,

the Dragon King immediately relented, saying,

"I'll see to it personally!"

Still unwilling to bear the burden alone, he summoned the other three Dragon Kings through their magical bell and drum communication system.

Treasures for All

Before long, the other Dragon Kings arrived, bringing their own contributions to complete the requested sets of armor.

Sun Wukong was bestowed:

The Phoenix-Feathered Purple Gold Crown

The Golden Chainmail Shirt

The Cloud-Stepping Lotus Shoes

Now clad entirely in radiant gold, he exuded unparalleled splendor.

The Great King Yellow Wind, not to be left out, received:

The Crimson Sun Black Feather Crown

The Silver Scaled Armor

The Lotus-Patterned Cloud-Stepping Boots

Dressed in polished silver and crimson accents, Yellow Wind looked both sharp and imposing.

Aftermath

As the two departed the Dragon Palace, the Dragon Kings gathered, visibly displeased.

"This won't do. That monkey's lawless behavior will only invite trouble!"

"Agreed! We must file a report to the Heavenly Court and let the Jade Emperor handle this matter."

And so, the Dragon Kings began drafting their petition to Heaven.
