Ethan Shu summoned his Three-Petaled Lotus Platform, transforming it into a golden streak of light that soared through the sky.

"Little monk, look!" Serena Nie pointed downwards from the lotus platform. "That must be the sisters, Fu Qingfeng and Fu Yuechi, just as the elder mentioned."

Ethan Shu, dressed in his pristine white monk robes, looked down to see a group of riders galloping along the official rbelow.

"With just these few people, trying to save their father at the execution ground might be a one-way journey," he remarked.

Clara Ning shook her head. "No, we can't let them throw their lives away. I'll stop them." With a graceful sweep of her sleeve, she floated down toward Fu Qingfeng and Fu Yuechi.

"Elder Sister!" Serena Nie called out, but Clara Ning

had already descended.

Ethan Shu smiled. "Your sister is always so impulsive."

Serena Nie stamped her foot lightly on the lotus platform, half-annoyed, half-worried. "She never makes it easy for us."

Clara Ning drifted down to the r hovering mid-air, her red sleeves billowing. With a light breath, she summoned a gust of chilling wind.

Fu Qingfeng, leading the group, felt the sudden blast. The beautiful and dignified woman with her striking, painted brows tugged on her reins, stopping the horse amidst the fierce wind.

"Hold your ground!" she called out. "Let's find cover from this wind before we continue forward."

Her younger sister, Fu Yuechi, shared her sister's beauty but had a livelier, more spirited charm. She agreed, "Yes, let's wait out the wind."

"Good idea," the others echoed, following Fu Qingfeng and Fu Yuechi's lead.

They took shelter behind some rocks to avoid the fierce gusts, breathing a sigh of relief as they did so.

"What's going on?" someone muttered. "The weather was fine just moments ago. Could this be the work of some dark spell?"

"Undoubtedly," another replied angrily. "It must be the National Advisor using sorcery to stop us from rescuing Master Fu."

"Yes! We've suspected for a long time that the National Advisor is a demon in disguise, corrupting the court from within," another agreed passionately. "We're not just here to rescue Master Fu—we'll also expose the National Advisor for what he truly is."

Their voices rose with righteous anger. Seeing that the wind was not letting up, Fu Yuechi grew increasingly concerned.

"I wonder how long this strange wind will last," she murmured.

Fu Qingfeng's face remained resolute. "If it doesn't die down soon, we'll push forward against it. We cannot allow the National Advisor to win."

Her words reignited the group's resolve.

"Forward, even against the wind!" they shouted, unwilling to let the dark winds dampen their spirits.

Hearing their cheers, Clara Ning, floating above, huffed in frustration. "Ungrateful fools! I'm trying to save you, yet you mistake me for the National Advisor's minion!"

Ethan Shu and Serena Nie watched from above. Seeing her sister thwarted, Serena Nie covered her mouth with a laugh.

"Your sister's trying her best, but it looks like she won't be able to stop them,"Ethan Shu noted, glancing at the sun and estimating the time left before midday.

Just then, there was a loud rumble from below as dirt and sand erupted from the ground. A disheveled Daoist, with a topknot and a grimy appearance, climbed out from underground, his face smeared with dust.

"Bold demon!" he shouted. "Daring to stir up winds in brdaylight! Prepare to be vanquished!" The Daoist shouted, forming a seal with his hands and pointing at Clara Ning.

"Heaven's command! Exorcise and banish! Begone!"

Paper talismans flew from his back, lined up like soldiers, and streaked toward Clara Ning.

"A Daoist?" Clara Ning gasped, retreating swiftly. With a flick of her sleeve, she conjured a whirlwind that caught the talismans, scattering them in a whirlwind.

The Daoist's eyes widened, and he stomped his foot, raising his hands to form another seal.

"Heaven's command! Exorcise and banish! Explode!"

Each talisman burst in mid-air, releasing a powerful energy that shattered the crimson whirl of her sleeve, sending Clara Ning

reeling from the shock.

"Elder Sister!" Serena Nie cried out, leaping from the lotus platform. Her sleeve extended, catching Clara Ning and pulling her back.

"There's another female ghost?!" The Daoist's expression turned grave as he stomped his foot, channeling his power.

"Wind, fire, thunder, lightning—by the power of the heavens, obey my command!"

With a deafening roar, a massive boulder detached from a nearby hill, hurtling toward the two women.

Clara Ning and Serena Nie's eyes widened, overwhelmed by the force of the attack.

Just as the boulder was about to strike,Ethan Shu descended, standing between the two sisters and the rock on his lotus platform.

"Amitabha."

His calm voice sounded as he extended a hand, conjuring a golden Buddhist seal shaped like the character [卍] shattering the massive boulder with ease.

"A monk appears?" The Daoist was taken aback by Ethan Shu's serene yet commanding presence. Recovering himself, he pointed a finger. "You, consorting with female ghosts? I can tell at a glance—you're no human!"

"I'm… not human?"Ethan Shu chuckled at the Daoist's outburst.

Ignoring Ethan Shu's amusement, the Daoist's shoulders shook as he scattered vermilion powder, drawing a vibrant red "command" character on his palm.

He extended his hand toward Ethan Shu and chanted, "Wind, fire, thunder, lightning—obey my command! Freeze!"

With serene steps,Ethan Shu walked toward the Daoist, a peaceful smile on his face. "Please, Daoist, I amEthan Shu, also called Xuan Kong."

The Daoist gaped, shocked that his spell hadn't taken effect. "It… didn't work?"

He pushed his hand out again, shouting, "Freeze!"

Ethan Shu continued to approach, his steps calm and deliberate.

"Daoist, I believe there's been a misunderstanding between us."

"Freeze!" The Daoist took a stumbling step backward, his eyes wide.

"Daoist, this humble monk is not a demon."

"Freeze, freeze, freeze!"
