The bright red wedding dress was an incredibly old-fashioned design, with long flowing skirts and delicate patterns around the shoulders and waist. Such a wedding dress was extremely rare in the current world, especially in a time where the supernatural had begun to dominate.
The dress hung on a wooden rack, untainted by any dust, looking as if it had just been made.
"Be careful!" the leader of the Ghost Tamers warned.
Although no ghost had appeared, the leader remained on high alert. Upon seeing the wedding dress, he immediately raised his vigilance to the highest level.
"Boss, did your ghost spirit react?" one of the Ghost Tamers asked.
The leader furrowed his brow. "No reaction, it's probably not here. Let's check the other rooms."
This courtyard, though it appeared large, was actually quite simple in layout. It resembled a traditional four-courtyard design. Upon entering, there was a decorative wall at the entrance, but instead of rooms on either side, there were wooden corridors. However, there were two rooms next to the central room.
"Alright!"
"Old Three, you stay here and keep an eye on this dress."
"Got it, boss."
Old Three positioned himself in front of the room with the wedding dress, holding his ghost spirit artifact, while the leader and the second Ghost Tamer moved to the left room.
"Old Two, open the door."
The second Ghost Tamer kicked the door open. Inside was what seemed like a kitchen, with an old stove.
The leader's eyes immediately narrowed as he spotted red-hot charcoal still glowing inside the stove.
"Old Two, did you see any smoke when you were outside?" the leader asked.
"Yes, but it was very faint," Old Two replied.
"That's it. The ghost spirit artifact hasn't reacted. It must be in the other room. Let's go take care of it."
The leader motioned for them to move to the right room.
The leader was already holding his ghost spirit artifact, an old-fashioned cotton slipper adorned with a red flower, clearly a design for the elderly. Inside this slipper was his companion ghost spirit—an old ghost grandmother!
Soon, the leader and the second Ghost Tamer arrived at the right room. Old Three joined them shortly after.
"I'll open the door," Old Two said.
With a powerful kick, he broke the wooden latch. As the door swung open, all three Ghost Tamers raised their ghost spirit artifacts in front of them!
Even though these Ghost Tamers were powerful, they still needed their ghosts to fight when in danger. Their bonds with their ghost spirits had strengthened over time, allowing them to summon them instantly when needed.
However, much to their surprise, no ghost spirit reacted.
The room, which appeared to be a bedroom, was completely empty. There was a wooden bed, a vanity table, and a copper mirror, but no sign of a ghost.
"What's going on?" The leader asked, confused.
This courtyard didn't seem particularly large, and there weren't many places for the ghost to hide.
"Boss, could it be in the well?" Old Two pointed to a well in the corner of the courtyard.
The leader was about to check when Old Three suddenly shouted.
"Boss, look!"
Old Three pointed at the copper mirror in the bedroom.
The leader squinted and his eyes immediately widened in shock. Because in the mirror, there was a face.
No, it wasn't just a reflection. It looked like someone was sitting in front of the mirror. A woman's face, delicate and perfect, as if she were applying makeup.
A slender hand appeared in the mirror, gently pressing a soft, faintly pink color onto the cheek, forming a pretty flush. It looked like an ancient woman putting on makeup in front of a mirror.
But the strange thing was... there was no figure in front of the mirror!
"She's in the mirror!" the leader realized. "Huo Granny, it's up to you!"
Without hesitation, he called for his ghost spirit.
Since the ghost had already appeared, his ghost spirit could be summoned as well. The other two Ghost Tamers did the same and called their own ghost spirits.
However, another twist occurred.
"Boss, my ghost spirit isn't reacting!" one of the Ghost Tamers said urgently.
"Mine neither!" Old Three also panicked.
The leader didn't have time to worry about them because his own ghost spirit wasn't responding either!
"What's going on? Even the strongest ghosts shouldn't be unresponsive!" The leader was horrified.
"Damn it, this is definitely a rare Ghost Domain that blocks the connection between us and our ghost spirits. We shouldn't have come in. Get back!" The leader shouted, quickly retreating toward the door.
But it was too late.
The door, which had been wide open, suddenly slammed shut with a loud creak.
"Boss, three are dead, including one Level Four Ghost Tamer. Their ghost spirit artifacts have also disappeared! Based on the scene, it doesn't look like a ghost battle happened. Has its power increased?"
Just moments later, a few people arrived at the scene.
The speaker was a middle-aged woman, who was talking to the Red Paper Man that Lin Feng had encountered earlier.
The Red Paper Man walked into the ruins, gazing at the three dead Ghost Tamers.
"I've been waiting for it in Willow City for half a month, and just as I was about to leave, it shows up. Looks like whatever it's after might really be in Willow City," the Red Paper Man remarked.
"What is it looking for?" the middle-aged woman asked.
The Red Paper Man shook its head thoughtfully. "I'm not sure. Ghosts don't follow logical behavior. This one is extremely adept at evasion. I've been chasing it all the way from Sea City and never caught it. If I knew what it was searching for, I could set a trap. Notify the mayor of Willow City and tell him to take a defensive stance. Ghost Tamers should stay put and not wander around until I catch it."
