In Ethan Wu's phone, only the contacts he'd known before July 7, 2020, had their numbers saved. Anyone he met on that day or after wouldn't stay in his contacts.

Since saved numbers disappeared after each reset, Ethan had memorized the phone numbers of everyone he'd ever met across his thousand-year cycle—hundreds of thousands in total. Remembering them all was both a way to pass the time and something he found oddly satisfying.

Memory was the only thing unaffected by the resets, so Ethan had honed his recall to perfection.

"There's a mole in your team. He's been undercover for two years, not only monitoring your every move but also planning to steal your company's latest RD data…" Ethan said as he raced down the r speaking into his phone.

"Who are you?!" The woman's icy voice was tinged with suspicion. "How do you know this number?"

She had assumed it was one of her subordinates calling her private number with urgent news, given the unfamiliar caller ID. But Ethan's words caught her off guard, making her realize this was no ordinary caller.

For someone to speak to her this way, it had to be a stranger who clearly knew more than he should. She was more skeptical of his identity than afraid of what he claimed to know.

"I think we should meet," Ethan suggested.

"Who. Are. You?" she repeated, her tone turning even colder.

"You'll know when we meet. I'm warning you about the mole in your midst. Do you want to lose that bet?"

"You know about the bet…? Just who are you? I warn you, if you know this number, you should know who I am. I'll find you!"

"Come on, lady. I already said we could meet, so why waste time threatening me? Don't you want to know who the mole is?"

"Why should I believe a word you're saying when I don't even know who you are?"

"Just think of me as a well-intentioned informant. If you're willing to pay a fair price, I can tell you more—like certain things about your brother."

"I'll find out who you are," she replied icily before hanging up.

Ethan wasn't surprised; he knew this was precisely her style.

"E-Ethan… isn't this… too fast?" Chloe Mu's fearful voice broke the silence just as he set down the phone and gripped the steering wheel again.

The Lamborghini was racing at an intense speed, pushing them back into their seats. Chloe clung to her seat, her face pale as she looked out the window.

This was rush hour!

As they entered the main thoroughfare, traffic thickened, and the Lamborghini's speed was beyond reckless. Chloe had been terrified but didn't dare speak up, afraid her voice might distract Ethan.

She loved a thrill and had even raced before—but always at night, on empty, winding mountain r. Doing this in brdaylight was playing with death.

"Don't worry. Once we lose them, I'll slow down," Ethan said as he hit the gas again.

"I think… we've already lost them…" Chloe murmured, glancing at the rearview mirror. The SUVs that had been following them had disappeared from sight.

SUVs could never keep up with a sports car's speed. Plus, the drivers weren't crazy enough to risk their lives the way Ethan was.

"Yeah, I think we're good now…" Ethan nodded. "After the next turn, I'll slow down."

As he spoke, Ethan glanced at the time, then pressed the pedal harder, accelerating even more.

The speedometer neared 240 kilometers per hour.

"Isn't this… a bit much?" Chloe felt she might pass out.

"If I don't speed up, we'll miss the green light at the next intersection," Ethan explained.

In ten seconds, the white Lamborghini reached the intersection of Jian She Rand Fu Ming Street, executing a flawless drift in the middle of the wide intersection and turning right onto Jian She R

The instant they entered Jian She R the light turned red.

Ethan knew every street in Sea City, the timing of each traffic light, and where congestion was likely at any given time. His route was carefully planned.

It was rush hour, yet he avoided all potential choke points.

And since he was driving a low-chassis sports car, he couldn't take any rough r.

He had it all mapped out!

The car's speed began to drop, eventually settling at around 80 kilometers per hour—still fast for the city but far less terrifying.

Chloe let out a sigh of relief. She raised her fist to playfully punch Ethan's shoulder but hesitated, merely waving it in the air, not wanting to disrupt his driving.

"You nearly scared me to death, you jerk."

"It was urgent. We had people chasing us; I had no choice," Ethan laughed.

"Aren't you afraid of crashing? And… don't you know this could end up on the news? If the whole country sees you, you'll be done for!"

"A crash isn't happening, and there won't be any news, either! This car belongs to Wayne Wang—it's a smuggled car with fake plates. He'd never report it to the police, and if it made it online, he'd have it scrubbed in no time."

"Wayne Wang has that much pull?"

"Of course."

"Then you're doomed, aren't you? Why steal the car? Wouldn't it have been easier to walk away yesterday?"

"Hah!" Ethan chuckled, offering no explanation.

Ten minutes later.

Near Clear River Park in Sea City's southern district, the white Lamborghini pulled over by the ride.

"Out you go, back home!" Ethan said.

Chloe, who had been focused on Ethan, suddenly noticed they were near her house, right next to Clear River Park, in the Clear River Residences villa community.

"You actually know where I live?" Chloe asked, surprised.

"Mhm!" Ethan smiled and nodded. "How many times do I have to tell you? I've known you for ages."

"Oh, stop making stuff up! I know! It was my stupid dog who told you, wasn't it? That dog tells you everything!"

"Get out," Ethan prompted.

"What are you going to do? Take me with you—I don't want to go home."

"I'm being hunted, remember? You want to be hunted down too? If they catch you, things will go badly, trust me. Don't say I didn't warn you."

"Well… okay." Chloe, a little frightened, got out of the car, then leaned in through the open door. "Be careful."

Ethan flashed her an "OK" hand sign.

"Call me," Chloe said before closing the door.

Ethan hit the gas and sped off.

Chloe turned to head home but stopped after a few steps, suddenly realizing something. She turned and waved after the now-distant Lamborghini, but it was too far away for him to notice.

"Oh, damn…" Chloe smacked her forehead, almost tearing up at her own foolishness.

She had just realized something incredibly important.

She didn't have any way to contact Ethan! No phone number, no WeChat—nothing! After spending the night with him, she didn't even have a way to reach him.

"Argh… wait!" Chloe quickly pulled out her phone and dialed her best friend's number. She'd suspected from the beginning that Ethan was a setup, a guy her friend had arranged for her to meet. Everything that happened afterward was unexpected, but she was sure her friend had arranged the initial encounter.

So she was going to ask her friend.

Half an hour later, Ethan parked the white Lamborghini in the underground garage of an office building. He turned off the engine, reclined the seat, and leaned back to rest with his eyes closed.

Waiting for a call.

He knew she'd call him back.

With all the troubles surrounding him, whether from Jack Zhao or Wayne Wang, they were minor issues. The real problem was with Sam Su. If he could handle Sam, he could handle everything.

That's why the first connection he wanted to establish was with the woman he'd just called.

She was a woman of exceptional beauty—an unmatchable charm combined with immense power and a dominant personality.

Ethan had, of course, slept with her—many times, in fact. He had met her and spent time with her countless times, always on the same day.

Her name was Isabella Li.

She was the older sister of Sam Su—the man who could control Sea City's underworld with a word.

To the outside world, Sam Su was a godlike figure. But at home, he was actually afraid of his sister.

So Ethan didn't mind becoming Sam Su's brother-in-law.

Ring, ring…

The phone rang.

Ethan sat up, saw the caller ID, and smiled.

She was calling.
