Stepping onto the darkened ground, Jason Ji journeyed deeper into the Nether Abyss. According to the original story, deep within this realm lay a Blackwater Stair that led to the Ghost King's Domain on the second level.

"This is it," Jason murmured as he found the steps surrounded by thick, deathly fog, as though leading directly into the underworld. Unable to see what lay ahead, he descended the staircase step by step.

"In the original tale, the protagonist, Ethan Ye, only defeated the Ghost King with the help of his master in his ring. The Ghost King's strength should be at the Legendary Two-Star level."

Jason calculated his odds. Legendary cultivators and Star Condensation practitioners were worlds apart; the Star Condensation level granted only the basic power of the heavens—stellar energy. But Legendary-level cultivators could tap into the higher-tier power of the heavens, known as lunar force. This difference in the mastery of cosmic energy created an insurmountable gap in power.

If Jason activated his Divine Restriction Domain, he was confident he could rival a Legendary One-Star cultivator. However, the Ghost King was a Legendary Two-Star—just one level higher, but with a massive gap in battle prowess. Nonetheless, Jason felt a 90% certainty in his ability to bring him down.

After half an hour on the Blackwater Stair, Jason reached the Ghost King's Domain. The moment he set foot inside, he felt his heart quicken and his blood rush.

Under a brilliant moon, the land was black, as were the trees and their branches. A chill wind blew, raising the hair on the back of his neck.

Wait… This is underground. How can there be wind? And the moon?

Jason's eyes narrowed, and in a flash, the Immortal Slayer Sword appeared in his hand.

"Hahaha!" A sinister laugh echoed, as a shadow cloaked in black flames emerged from the darkness. Towering at nearly seven feet, it wore dark armor. Its form was skeletal, and its hollow eyes flickered with black flames, radiating a chilling aura of death.

"A Star Condensation cultivator?" The Ghost King muttered, his voice grating and dry like nails on a chalkboard.

"This must be the Ghost King," Jason observed coolly, his clear eyes devoid of emotion.

"Boring. You came here, so stay here," the Ghost King sneered, raising his bony hand. A flicker of black flame coiled around his finger, which shot toward Jason like a black aurora, twisting the space around it and leaving a burnt scent in the air.

"Divine Restriction Domain!" Jason's eyes sparkled, and his figure blurred as the black flame passed through him, leaving no trace.

"A mirage?" The Ghost King tilted his head in surprise as Jason's figure dissipated into thin air.

"Maya's Moment!" Jason's cold voice echoed in the Ghost King's ear. Suddenly, seventeen sword marks appeared across the Ghost King's armor, and a cracking sound filled the air as the dark armor shattered, revealing white, jade-like bones beneath.

Only after the armor split did the sound of the seventeen sword strikes catch up, piercing the air like thunder. The Ghost King took three steps back, cloaked himself in black flames, and stared at Jason in shock.

"What speed!" Black flames flickered in the Ghost King's eye sockets, mirroring his astonishment. Jason's seventeen strikes had come so fast that even he couldn't react. The strikes arrived before the sound did, a feat achievable only by breaking the sound barrier with sword speed.

"Who are you?" the Ghost King roared; his voice sharp.

"Take a guess," Jason replied, moving with the Eight Steps of the Celestial Demon, his shadowy figure multiplying behind him as he launched one masterful sword move after another.

"Sweeping the Battlefield."

"Sunset Glow."

"Falling Geese on the Sand."

"Enough!" The Ghost King erupted in anger, releasing a wave of black flames, which extinguished Jason's endless attacks. He unleashed a barrage of flames laced with lunar force, launching indiscriminately across the Ghost King's Domain.

It was a clever strategy. Jason, using the Eight Steps of the Celestial Demon, was indeed too fast for the Ghost King to track, so the Ghost King opted for a wide-area attack.

"Let's go for three hundred strikes!" Jason shouted, sidestepping a flame, and appearing in front of the Ghost King. "Maya's Moment!"

"Nether Armor!" the Ghost King barked, cloaking himself in black flames. He wasn't afraid of Jason's myriad sword techniques but was wary of the supersonic speed of Jason's strikes. At the phrase "Maya's Moment," he instinctively took a defensive stance.

Jason's Immortal Slayer Sword vanished into the void, raining down a torrent of sword shadows like a celestial river of starlight. Brilliant fragments of stardust danced in the air as his relentless strikes clashed with the Ghost King's armor, creating a cascade of sparks.

Clang, clang, clang! Countless sword marks appeared on the Ghost King's armor, spreading at an alarming rate until it seemed it would soon break into pieces.

"Damn you!" The Ghost King, forced to retreat, roared in fury. To be pushed back by a Star Condensation cultivator was an insult he couldn't accept.
