Just as the previous taxi left, another one stopped right in front of him.
"Do you know the Drunken Dream Bar?" Jett asked, leaning forward and looking through the window.
"Drunken Dream Bar? Why are you going to a place like that, young man?"
Jett thought this would be like the previous times, but unexpectedly, the driver knew about it.
It seemed that Landon hadn't deceived him.
"My friend is drinking there. I'm going to find him."
Upon hearing this, the driver's face changed. "Are you sure your friend is drinking there?"
"Is there a problem?"
Jett was a bit surprised. Were taxi drivers so talkative now?
"There's a big problem. The Drunken Dream Bar went out of business ten years ago. Now, only a dilapidated storefront remains. You said your friend is drinking there. Could he be deliberately deceiving you?"
The driver looked skeptical.
"It went out of business ten years ago?"
"Yes, it was even on the front page of the newspaper. I heard that the bar was involved in some shady dealings and caused the deaths of many girls. After a big fire, it was shut down. Some people said the place was cursed, so no one has been willing to take over for ten years. It's been abandoned until now."
The driver sighed, seemingly with a story to tell.
"Just take me there. If he really deceived me, I'll settle it with him tomorrow."
Jett opened the door and got in, saying to the driver.
"Listen to me, young man. Don't go. Strange things happen at night these days."
The driver seemed to be a kind person, trying to dissuade Jett.
"Don't worry. I'm tough by nature. I've even stayed in a morgue. That place won't scare me. Let's go. I see you're not having an easy time, so I'll give you extra money."
The driver shook his head helplessly and started the car silently.
He was just a driver and didn't need to argue with his passengers. He would go wherever they asked.
Half an hour later.
The taxi arrived at an abandoned neighborhood.
Although it was only one street away from the bustling downtown, it felt like two different worlds.
"This is the place. Just follow the street, and you'll see it at a glance."
The driver didn't dare to drive further inside.
"Thanks."
Jett handed over cash and pushed open the door.
"You could still turn back now. If you couldn't find your friend, there won't be any taxis here for you to take."
The driver couldn't help but advise again, considering the money.
"It's fine. I'm leaving now."
Without explaining, Jett waved and turned towards the dimly lit street.
The driver shook his head and started the car silently.
"Hmm? Someone's hailing a taxi here? Lucky me."
Suddenly, the driver saw someone waving not far ahead and drove over. He thought there wouldn't be any passengers on the way back.
"Where are you going, miss?"
The driver stopped the car and saw a thinly dressed girl. He smiled and greeted her.
"Downtown."
The woman's voice was soft, and then she silently walked towards the back door.
As soon as her hand touched the door handle, it was suddenly grabbed by a large hand.
"Did you change your mind, bro?"
The driver turned around and saw the man who had just gotten off the car. He couldn't help but say happily, thinking his words had worked.
Jett looked at the driver and shook his head, saying, "I'm not planning to go back. I just came to tell you something."
"You could tell me next time we meet. Don't scare my passenger."
The driver couldn't help but laugh.
Didn't he see that the girl was now afraid to move?
"Passenger? Is she your passenger, or are you her passenger?"
Jett smiled slightly.
"Of course, she's my passenger."
The driver said subconsciously.
"I remember you said before that there's no place to hail a taxi here."
"Yeah..."
Before the drive could finish the sentence, he froze.
Midnight, a lonely girl at the intersection.
He didn't dare to continue thinking and turned to the girl, trembling as he said, "Miss, it's late at night. You should go back. I'm not taking the downtown route."
The girl didn't speak and remained motionless.
The driver turned to Jett, hoping he would help.
"I'm just being kind and reminding you. Don't be afraid."
After saying this, Jett patted the girl's cold shoulder and chuckled, "The driver has something to do. I'll take you home later."
The girl still lowered her head and remained motionless.
The driver didn't dare to move either.
"Don't be upset. Tell me if you have any problems. Don't trouble the driver."
The girl remained motionless.
Under normal circumstances, Jett would have slapped her, but the girl's situation was different, and he couldn't jump to conclusions.
"If you don't follow me, you'll never get your revenge."
"And don't trouble the driver, or I'll beat you up."
Jett didn't continue persuading and just left two sentences before turning and walking away.
Seeing this, the driver wanted to call out to Jett in fear, but suddenly the girl let go of the door handle and slowly drifted towards Jett.
If there was any uncertainty before, it was now confirmed.
Seeing the girl leave, the driver immediately monsterstrated his forty years of driving skills.
He released the clutch, pressed the accelerator, shifted to fourth gear, and smoothly sped the car away amidst a roar.
"Thanks! I won't charge you for future rides!"
Jett only heard a loud shout from the taillights of the car in the distance before it disappeared.
Seeing the driver leave, Jett turned and said to the girl following him, "Lead the way."
The girl remained silent and drifted towards the dimly lit neighborhood.
