Chapter 17: The Girl with Special Blood

If human blood could be compared to a gourmet meal, then the blood in bags was no more than scraps to stave off hunger. This was why the noble members of the blood clan never drank the blood of dead prey. Tonight, as Chen Shang roamed the streets, he was planning to visit one of his usual haunts to see if any lost souls needed his "salvation."

Unexpectedly, before even entering the bar, he found someone very special.

It was at the entrance of the Dream Love Bar, a place Chen Shang often frequented. As he walked past the entrance, his attention was entirely drawn to a young girl.

She wore a black gothic-style dress, her long dark hair tied into twin ponytails. She stood only about 1.5 meters tall, with makeup that gave her a strange appearance—like a naive girl trying to look mature. But what caught Chen Shang's attention the most was the sweet fragrance she emitted. It tugged at his bloodlust, the one that had just been satiated. He could tell, without a doubt, that this girl had the same kind of blood as him—special blood, something irresistible to blood clans.

Just as Chen Shang was contemplating how to bring this girl under his control, she spoke.

"Big brother, are you heading into the bar?"

Caught off guard by her initiative, Chen Shang smiled. "Yes, I am. Why?"

"I've never been inside a bar before," she said, her wide, innocent eyes gazing up at him. "But my classmates are in there, and I was wondering if you could take me inside? I'm a little nervous by myself..."

The girl's demeanor was one of complete innocence, like a child untainted by the world.

"Of course," Chen Shang responded smoothly, taking her by the wrist and leading her toward the bar.

"My name is Su Qiluo. What's your name, big brother?"

Her voice was soft, shy, as she looked down at the ground while being led by Chen Shang.

"I'm Chen Shang. How old are you?" he asked, glancing at the delicate figure beside him.

"Today's my 18th birthday. My classmates are throwing me a party in here," she explained.

As they reached the bar counter, Chen Shang released her wrist and scanned the surroundings. He didn't even need her to point it out—he could already tell which group was her classmates. A noisy bunch of teenagers sitting at a table filled with drinks and alcohol.

"Where are your friends?" Chen Shang asked, his gaze still lingering on the group.

Su Qiluo looked around and quickly locked eyes on the group of teenagers. But instead of heading straight over, she glanced up at Chen Shang.

"Brother Chen, are you here alone?" she asked.

"Why, are you inviting me to join you?" Chen Shang tilted his head slightly, looking down at the petite girl.

"Can you?" Her eyes lit up with excitement.

"Sure, let's go," he replied.

With a smile, she grabbed the corner of Chen Shang's jacket and led him toward the lively group of students.

"Qiluo, you're finally here!" one of the boys exclaimed as soon as they noticed her arrival. The entire group paused their fun to greet her, though one boy in particular—who seemed especially eager—was the first to step forward.

"We've been waiting for you!" The boy's enthusiastic smile faltered when he noticed Su Qiluo holding onto Chen Shang's jacket. His expression briefly stiffened.

"I got held up outside for a bit," Su Qiluo explained.

"It's all good. Who's this?" The boy glanced warily at Chen Shang, clearly seeing him as an intruder.

"This is my new friend, Chen Shang," Su Qiluo said, gesturing toward him. "This is our class monitor, Li Xuan."

The monitor's smile tightened as he extended a hand to Chen Shang, barely disguising his hostility.

"You should be careful of strangers, Qiluo. You never know what their intentions might be. Of course, I'm not talking about this guy—nice to meet you."

Chen Shang ignored the hand, instead looking down at his own attire.

"What's wrong?" Su Qiluo asked, puzzled by his behavior.

"My clothes don't really fit the scene. I should've worn something cheap, something off the street market," he muttered to himself.

This entire situation was playing out like a scene from a low-tier urban drama—class monitor is clearly interested in Su Qiluo, he throws some insults at the protagonist, and the protagonist shows off his wealth to shut him down. But in Chen Shang's case, his daily attire, consisting entirely of luxury brands, made it impossible for others to look down on him.

Seeing that Chen Shang wasn't acknowledging him, Li Xuan huffed and withdrew his hand.

Soon, Chen Shang was fully integrated into the group, and while his sudden appearance had initially made some of them uneasy, his good looks, charismatic aura, and obvious wealth quickly put everyone at ease.

"Happy birthday, Qiluo!" a short-haired girl with delicate features called out. Her name was Shen Xiaowen, and she was one of Su Qiluo's close friends—on the surface, at least.

Why "on the surface"? Well, as soon as Chen Shang sat down, Shen Xiaowen began inching closer toward him, making her interest clear.
