Short, fiery red hair, smoky eyeshadow, delicate features, an impressive figure, and... an even more impressive "front armor." This was the best way to describe Seventh Brother—or rather, Qijie, to be more respectful.
"I told you, you're allowed to call me Qijie. What, still not willing?" She squeezed Chen Shang's neck playfully before finally letting go.
"Seventh Brother, you're joking again. Did you bring the stuff?" Chen Shang asked, pointing to the two men behind her, who were carrying a massive travel bag.
He stepped aside, letting the three enter the room, then opened the travel bag. Inside were several slightly larger-than-hand-sized bags filled with crimson liquid. Just one glance at the blood bags was enough to make Chen Shang hastily zip up the bag again and motion to have it placed in the corner of the room.
The bags were hospital-grade, each containing 500cc of blood, vacuum-sealed to prevent air contamination. Yet, despite the airtight packaging, the tantalizing scent of blood still seeped through. Chen Shang barely managed to restrain himself from tearing open a bag and guzzling it down. Only by pushing the blood bags further away from him did he feel a slight reprieve from the intense craving gnawing at him.
After entering, Qijie casually settled herself on a nearby couch, crossing her legs, smiling at Chen Shang. However, as he turned to face her, her smile faded.
"Did you take something?"
At the doorway earlier, where the light was dim and Chen Shang had drawn the curtains, she hadn't gotten a clear look at his face. Now, in the bright light, she could see his pallor—it was unmistakable.
Chen Shang said nothing, only shaking his head silently.
"You guys can leave now," Qijie ordered her two lackeys. "I'll stay here for a while."
As proper lackeys, they didn't ask why their boss was choosing to stay alone with another person. That kind of curiosity would have earned them a watery grave long ago.
The two men promptly left without a word, closing the door behind them.
"Seventh Brother, aren't you leaving with them?"
"What's this, trying to kick me out?"
Qijie leaned back into the couch, her smile returning, teasing and amused.
"How could I? You're my lifesaver, Seventh Brother. I'd never kick you out," Chen Shang replied with a smile of his own.
"Oh? Then offering yourself in gratitude doesn't seem like too much to ask, right?" she quipped.
"You know I've always seen you as a big brother," Chen Shang replied with his usual tact.
"Come sit here."
"Next time, I promise."
Qijie sighed, shaking her head, clearly used to Chen Shang's persistent deflections by now.
Chen Shang's eyes briefly drifted down to her long legs. Qijie wore shorts, and her pale, smooth legs were on full display. Given her relaxed posture, the view was... less than modest.
Noticing where his eyes had wandered, Qijie didn't seem to mind. Instead, she stretched out even further, almost as if she were showing off on purpose.
"Like what you see?"
"It's alright."
"If it were anyone else, I'd have them chopped up and dumped in the river by now. So, how about it? Still thinking it over? Stick with me, and I'll make sure you live the good life. Plus, I can get you more of that stuff."
Qijie clearly thought Chen Shang had developed an addiction and was trying to use it as leverage. And Chen Shang knew it too. From the outside, he really did look like an addict, with his pale skin and trembling fingers. The scent of blood filling the room was a torment beyond words.
"Why go to such lengths for me, Seventh Brother? What's so special about me? Whatever it is, I can change," Chen Shang replied, playing the oblivious straight man.
For a long time now, Qijie had made it clear: she wanted his body.
Chen Shang had become used to it by now. After all, he knew he looked good—his charm value alone hinted at that. Lots of people wanted him for his looks. Qijie was just one more name on that list.
But Chen Shang had no desire to become some gangster queen's boy toy, so he'd always rejected her advances. However, after spending more time with her, he started to realize something was off. He had assumed she was only attracted to his appearance, and that once she got a taste of his less-than-charming personality, she'd lose interest.
But she hadn't. In fact, she seemed more obsessed with him the more obnoxious he became.
It didn't make sense. By now, a thousand other women would have been completely put off by his behavior. So why was she so persistent?
Qijie stood up, nonchalantly walking past Chen Shang and toward the door.
"Call me if you need anything."
With that, she left, closing the door behind her. The moment she was gone, Chen Shang's eyes turned a deep crimson, the blood vessels around them bulging grotesquely, and his fangs extended fully.
Rushing to the travel bag, he tore it open and snatched up a blood bag, draining its contents in seconds. He downed four bags in rapid succession before finally stopping, his appearance slowly returning to normal.
"Good thing I didn't randomly attack a passerby. Otherwise, I'd be dealing with the aftermath of a body right about now."
